We have enjoyed playing Pandemic so decided to try this version. It's got quite a few changes so it's a fun twist on the base system. It's a little tougher to learn and master, let alone win, but it's enjoyable and we have played it several times since it arrived.

    • Great Pandemic Alternative for WoW Fans
Pandemic is a widely liked game because it's not too difficult to learn, games don't take hours, and it is fun. This game uses the same system, so people that know Pandemic can learn this in just a few minutes. This version has a lot of great minis, which is always welcome in a board game! A word of caution, though. This arrived with several damaged or broken miniatures, so I filed a return and ordered a replacement copy. The replacement was in better shape, although some minis with thin pieces (swords, staves, etc.) were bent a bit. At least nothing was actually broken or seriously damaged. QA does not seem very good from the manufacturer, so you may end up buying two copies and returning one of them. Also, I bought some soft foam from a hobby store to help store the minis. The box just comes with them stuffed into baggies, but there's plenty of space to add a more gentle way of storing them - at least for the Lich King, heroes and abomination. I wish the manufacturer had included molded plastic to hold them. They'd probably arrive in better shape. ... show more

Some components are packed and squeezed into small plastic bags. One component is broken, and some components are bent. Contacted Z-Man customer service and they stated there is no component replacement.

My game arrived with a broken piece and customer service hasnt reaponded when I reached out to the company directly. I don't want to return it, just replace the broken piece. Otherwise this game looks beautiful. Can't wait to play!

I love Pandemic and I love Warcraft, when this came out, I was so excited! This "Pandemic World of Warcraft Wrath of The Lich King Board Game" is a definitely an exciting acquisition for me; and to top it off, it is actually a great game, very fun to play, best of all, co-operative, all the players team up to complete the quests and beat the Lich King. If you are familiar with Z-Man Games/Matt Leacock's Pandemic series of games, this game is designed with the basic "Pandemic gameplay system", which in short, here is how it is played: at the beginning, randomized location cards are drawn with corresponding locations on the big game board, and those are the problematic locations; the players are supposed to "treat" those locations to avoid them being "blown up" thru out the game, as certain events will randomly, yet periodically comes up, which will "re-inforce" the problems in those locations or any locations that "problem" had hit previously, and every time, any "problematic" location gets "out of control" (aka blown up), the "blown up" market get advanced, and the team only get certain amount of those until the team "lost" the game. This is the basic "Pandemic gameplay system". And each different Pandemic game will have some "tasks" or "missions" for the team to accomplish so as to "win" the game. For this "WoW variant", the "missions" are the 3 quests and then to beat the Lich King (quest). This is where this game divert from the same old Pandemic, in a good way. This WoW variant almost played like the Pandemic Legacy game, where every game has different "missions", and depending on the combination of "heroes" you picked, there are different ways to achieve those goals. This "WoW variant" also support up to 5 players as compare to the standard Pandemic games max'ed out at 4 players. The gameplay of this "Pandemic WoW" is very fun, and one can come back again and again. The game components/pieces are better than your standard Pandemic game by a lot! You get some very detailed mini figures (people even painted them), most of the time, only "special limited edition" version of games will have these kind of highly detailed figures!! There are some larger and some smaller figures; 7 larger white "heroes", 1 giant blue "Lich King", 3 large blue "abominations", and 36 smaller blue "ghouls". You also get some thick cardboard tokens and some cardboard built "buildings" (icecrown citadel and strongholds). Then a bunch of game cards (for quests, hero descriptions/trackers, reference etc..). And lastly you got a very solid and pretty good sized "game board". All of these are of pretty high quality. This bring me to the ONLY grieve I have for this otherwise awesome game - which is the interior of the box! This is a high quality and "not cheap" of a game, which I think the cost is totally justified by the high quality game pieces as well as how well this game was developed (and played). Yet, they didn't bother to make some compartments for those nice game pieces. Really Z-Man Games, really?? I am so disappointed at you!! Anyways, I am still giving this game a 5stars, I think it is well worth it. This game can be enjoyed by anyone from 10years old to 70years old. If you enjoy boardgaming, I bet you will enjoy this game too!     • Even more fun than the original Pandemic
A very good game based on the Pandemic system. In this board game you are cooperating with the other players trying to defeat the lich king by finishing a few separate quests before taking on the lich king himself. While the quests are going on you also have to defend places that are tied back to the World Of Warcraft game from being overrun by the Lich King’s army. Outbreaks in this game are not quite the same as in Pandemic but overall still make the game challenging and fun. Gameplay is pretty straightforward once you have read the directions and spent a few rounds getting used to playing. The characters are each unique with their own special advantages, in some cases which characters you play can win or lose you the game. Each turn the player does a few actions to help with quests or clearing out the endless hordes of enemies that spawn. There are three quests that need to be completed before you can go after the Lich King, and finishing each of those quests will give you a special card that can be used once per game. We really enjoyed playing Wrath of the Lich King, and liked it even more than the original Pandemic game. Some of the rules could be cleared up a little as we weren’t sure what the rules meant in some cases, and there were a few places where there are holes in the rules, but we just took what we thought was right and had a good time playing it.
