I'm going to modify my review and change it from 1 star to 4. This is my original review: I guess if your nose hair is super long this might be useful but otherwise this thing stinks. The blade is so far away from the safety cap that your hairs are going to still be long after using this thing. What a waste of money. Terrible product. My new review: On a whim I decided to look up if this trimmer would accept Li Ion 14500 batteries. These are a new type of battery, the same chemistry that's in your phone battery, and they're different from the old fashioned alkaline AA batteries we've all grown up with. They are much more powerful. With these Li Ion batteries they can come as either protected cells or unprotected. I mention this because the protected are just a little bit longer than unprotected. I wasn't able to fit the longer protected battery into the battery slot but the unprotected was an exact fit. I was really excited and looked forward to see if it worked. And man oh man did it work. Before this trimmer was absolute garbage, it turns out it just didn't have near the required energy to do it's job. Now? Wow, I feel a little bit faster after all my nose hair is gone! The trimmer was night and day better compared to what it was. I'm kinda sad because I've got another trimmer being delivered tomorrow and I no longer need it. Anyway. Get yourself some unprotected 14500 Li Ion batteries for this trimmer. You'll be glad you did. Edit: I've been told this may be dangerous. Don't take my word on it.

I had one of these for quite some time until it finally died and didn't work well anymore. I made the mistake of replacing it with a different brand that I thought would be better. Unfortunately it wasn't as it did not cut my nose hairs very good. I went back to this one and I'm happy with the purchase.

This is effective for getting.rid of hairs nose and ear hair. The con is that I have had to replace them way to often. I always have two of them...one at home and another at my vacation house. After a years use the motor seems to lose power and are never the same, even after changing the batteries several times. When they get like this the cutters aren't moving fast enough and get caught in the hairs they are supposed to cut. Ouch, kinda painful when that happens when cutting nose hair. Finally, they just don't work anymore. I think I'm being generous rating them with 3 stars.

I had been using an older model Panasonic ear/nose-hair trimmer for over five years until it finally gave up the ghost. This one is even better. It's solidly-built, comfortable to hold, and very effective at the simple task it's designed for--removing small hairs. I didn't have any problem with the noise level--I thought it was fairly quiet--but if, for some reason, you put it deep into your ear it does sound noisy. But for nose hair and hair at the entrance to your ear canal I found it fine. I think it's a good value for what you get. If this one lasts close to five years, like my last one, I'll be very happy with it. In the past two months, it stopped working four times. I puzzled over what to do and considered ditching it. But since it's a nice product and there isn't an obvious replacement to buy, I decided to experiment a bit. The first time it started working again after I removed the battery and reinserted it. The second time this didn't work but rapping the base of the trimmer on a countertop got it working again. The third time, when I hadn't used it for over a week, neither of these solutions worked and I was resigned to ditching it but decided to bank it harder against the countertop and after 5-6 hits it started working again. The fourth time, when I hadn't used for several days, 2 knocks did the trick. It's been working perfectly for about four months since then. I'm mentioning this because other reviews also mentioned this problem (though not the potential solutions), so it may affect your purchase decision and, if you purchase this trimmer, you may need to deal with the problem. I puzzled over what caused the problem and two guesses are that it is either (1) a loose connection between the battery and motor due to low manufacturing tolerances or (2) the lubricant hardens during periods when the trimmer isn't used. But I'm not sure. I have three recommendations. First, consider another trimmer that doesn't have this problem (or worse problems). Unfortunately, I don't recall seeing any. Second, check out the product carefully during the return window so you can exchange it for one that (hopefully) doesn't have this problem. Third, if it's past the return period, try using it regularly and try these solutions before you ditch it.
