Description

The Palram Nature Hybrid series greenhouse brings hobby gardeners the best of both worlds; the precise balance of two advanced polycarbonates and a durable 6' foot wide frame designed perfectly for your growing needs in smaller spaces. A healthy head-start on your garden begins with light management through Palram' s market leading twin-wall polycarbonate. Twin-wall polycarbonate is the leading choice for quality hobby greenhouse coverings because of its durability, light diffusing properties and heat retaining ability. The twin-wall roof on the Hybrid blocks 99.9% of harmful solar UV radiation and creates a system of diffused light, which helps maximizes plant growth and eliminates the risk of plant burn and shade areas. Crystal clear polycarbonate side panels are equally as durable and provide over a 90% transmission of light. Palram' s version of these virtually unbreakable polymers are made only with virgin materials that won't become brittle or discolor over time. Featuring a rust-resistant aluminum frame and heavy-duty galvanized steel base, the Hybrid series greenhouse is designed to stand for years to come. Other features include integrated rain gutters to channel water for sustainable irrigation, a magnetic door catch and a single roof vent to help moderate air flow and temperature to maximize growing conditions. Top Amazon Reviews

  • Both are lightweight and easy to handle
Size: 6' x 8' x 7' Color: Forest Green
I want to preface my review with the fact that I formalwas an owner of a business that included 5 high tunnel greenhouses. I am now over 70 years old and visually impaired including virtually blind in one eye. This product arrived in the fall and I started building it, due to weather conditions, Memorial Day weekend when my son helped me lay the foundation of 8x8s cut to length and butted to make an 8x6 base. I spent a lot of time looking at videos from UTube and the instructions on line so that I could enlarge them to see more clearly. Because there are no written instructions, I did call the customer service help line a number of times. As a former commercial greenhouse owner, I was impressed with the design of this greenhouse. They were designed to be relatively simple to assemble with most of the parts to be differentiated from each other. I have the Heritage Hybrid which uses the clear polycarbonate for the sides and the twinwall for the roof. Both are lightweight and easy to handle. Important when you are working alone. The clear polycarbonate is molded to give the appearance of windows but I feel that it also gives the panels more strength. The material is very similar to what is used on the endwalls of much larger high tunnel greenhouses. It is definitely much better than the poly film used on the high tunnels which in my cold climate is usually in two layers with air pumped between the layers to help with insulation. I chose the twin wall for the roof since it has more ability to deal with a high snow load. The greenhouse is very light so it does need to be anchored. I used lag bolts in all the holes along the bottom. I did this first in order to mark the holes and predrill since the the closeness of the top and bottom of the greenhouse base does not allow easy access of a drill to be used in an upright position. Once the base was anchored no wind blew the greenhouse I was working on to move. If the base was anchored then the wind didn't affect the integrity of the greenhouse as it was built. I am in the north but even here ventilation is very important. Greenhouses are made to become heated by the sun and so one must learn to manage this with ventilation. While I was building, I added the side louvre vent as well. I decided, as with my commercial greenhouses, to place the vent in the back wall. My one disappointment was that because of the design and my limitations I was unable to change the placement of the vent higher in the wall. I was also unable to send pictures of the vent placement to Customer Service to help me figure what I may have done wrong in the placement of the parts that made the opening I made a bit too large to accommodate the louvre winds. I made longer ones myself. I am not discouraged since I would have figured out some way to put a vent in anyway and the all in all the vent window was easier all complete. It may seem expensive but considering the cost of vents for my commercial greenhouses, I didn't think it was overly expensive. It comes with the vent parts as well as the panel that needs to go above it to fill the space that would have been one whole panel. As I said earlier, greenhouses are made to make and contain heat. In the warmer weather, ventilation is needed but so is some way to move the air. If the outside air is still so is that inside your greenhouse. For those who complain about it getting too hot.....get a fan. One that can move the air so it will exit the greenhouse. I do not have electricity near my greenhouse so I will install a solar powered fan. These greenhouses just by their design do not support year round growing in the north. The exception would be cold weather crops grown in cold frames. For early starting and late season a small heater would work well. Overnight is usually the tough time. It took me 8 weeks to build this greenhouse but again I want to point out that I am over 70 and because of my eyesight I had to feel more than see what I was doing in the build It will take me a few more to take care of some interior support for the winter months. No greenhouse is impervious to the destruction of winter snow. Even with my commercial houses we needed to shore up the roof or they they collapsed. In these buildings I plan on making roof supports to help. I still give this house a 5 star rating. It is a good design, the price is reasonable, and it is simple to assemble. Keep in mind my age and my disability. If I can do it so can anyone else. I do want to thank Ben and Tim in Customer Service for their patience and help. Even though they may not have solved my problem they gave me good advice which in the end did solve my problem and they would have done more had I been able to send pictures. Anyone who has not had or used a greenhouse should consult with a local grower or their extension service as to good horticultural practices. At this point, I would recommend this product to friend and I would order this again if I needed it. ... show more

  • Plan ahead and have the tools you will need.
Size: 6' x 6' x 7' Color: Forest Green
This greenhouse will not go together in a couple of hours by anybody, as is implied in other comments. The biggest problem is the poor instructions, which contain only pictures (and no descriptive text). The illustrations assume the builder can visualize the "big picture" or has seen the product - assembled - before. Another problem with the instructions is that it is pressed into service for other products. These products can have substantive illustrative differences between components like roof panels Tips: 1) Be armed with metric nutdrivers. Everything is metric. Don't try to drag out Grandpa's old ratched set; it won't work. 2) All the parts are there, but not all marked. As bad is the fact that the parts are sometimes marked differently. 3) As stated elsewhere, ensure you are working on an absolutely flat surface AND at the place where you actually will implement the greenhouse. There is no room for error here: the base must be absolutely square. This is a CAD-engineered product, and everything has to line up. I built an 8 X 10 base with treated lumber, and am glad I did. This base is useful to anchor to, using the optional anchor kit offered by the manufacturer. 4) Don't even try to assemble on a windy day. The side panels are very light, clear plastic, and will sail away as you're trying to nestle them into their grooved supports. The positives? It was worth it. It is everything you see in the pictures and videos. It's attractive, with a high-end appearance and feel. Because it's so well engineered, it's solid. I've pressed it into service a little late, but it's truly accelerating the germination of my garden melons and squash. The tomatoes and peppers love it and are thriving. I recommend getting a good garden hose attachment which can develop a light a spray or mist. With some planning, most folks will have plenty of room and flexibility for their greenhouse needs. ... show more

  • Good directions and good Service
Size: 6' x 8' x 7' Color: Forest Green
All the directions for the greenhouse are in pictures with each piece given a number. I thought I had a part missing and contacted the US phone number for service and they sent the piece first class mail. There were a few issues putting the thing together, but I was able to do it without outside help in my garage. Had it on a tarp covered by quilts and when it was done I was able to drag it into my back yard. Made sure to bolt it down because a friend said hers blew away a few times, though hers did not break apart! I am going to have a lot of FUN. The green finish gives it some class. ... show more

  • Lightweight, nice unit needing some patience and understanding of assembly sketches.
Size: 6' x 8' x 7' Color: Forest Green
Hybrid version 6' x 8' with green painted aluminum. Its lightweight, assembly is from pictures only as they sell to many countries. Some of the sketches were confusing but errors easily fixed when realized. Some of the parts with slots had been crushed a little in shipping, but were easily eased open with tools and worked just fine. The side window panels were very light weight and flexible but will do the job. The opaque roof panels were reinforced and a little tight - some liquid soap helped (don't use oil as it will affect plastic). It's very light so it does need anchoring. I put it on a concrete paver base and used side wire stays with tighteners down to spiral ground anchors from Home Depot. I was able to add a water spigot from under the paver base inside the greenhouse for added utility. For the money I thought it added value to my home and will add some pleasure to our lives especially to save our aloe, orange and lemon shrubs during freezes. Bought here on Amazon for $609.00, paver base and side anchor stay system about $250 (10x10 area covered), assembly over 2 days about 16 hours + paver base time. ... show more

  • Very flimsy plastic panels.
Size: 6' x 8' x 7' Color: Forest Green
It looked nice at first but was very flimsy. It lasted 2 years and then a wind storm tore it apart. Half of it blew into the next county.
