Description

The Hybrid 6' x 4' Greenhouse from Palram - Canopia combines two types of polycarbonate panels to create a balanced environment for your plants. The translucent polycarbonate roof panels have twice the heat retention of single layer panels and allow the light to reach your plants at all angles while the crystal-clear polycarbonate side panels provide over 90% light transmission and block harmful UV rays. Polycarbonate is a virtually unbreakable polymer that provides the light transmission of glass, but is lighter, stronger, and safer. Palram - Canopia engineers their panels and aluminum frames to be strong, highly resistant to harsh weather and sun, and durable. This attention to detail continues with an integrated gutter system for drainage as well as a roof vent and hinged door to provide airflow and allow adjustment of heat, humidity, and ventilation. The 6' x 4' Hybrid Greenhouse comes as a complete kit and can be easily assembled with simple tools. Extend the enjoyment of your growing season and protect your plants from harsh weather and pests with the Hybrid Greenhouse kit from Palram - Canopia! Manufacturer Contact Information

  • OK, but with this advice...
Size: 6' x 8' x 7' Color: Silver
Disclosure: My guys and I build and assemble things for a living. We bought and assembled this for our employer. STURDINESS: If properly assembled, and properly anchored, this kit is adequate for its intended use. I you ancor the base, AND use the over-the=top anchor kit, high wind should not be a problem. If you don't anchor it as above, you WILL have a problem down the road. The frame itself is sturdy enough for regular use, but don't expect it to survive a hit by your riding mower without damage. However, the panels themselves are thin, and will not stand any abuse. They are not going to break if you bump them with your knee, but if you drop a large pot filled with soil and it crashes into the side wall, the panels could pop out or break. EASE OF ASSEMBLY: I can see where a lot of people would find the pictorial instructions frustrating. But if you take the time, they are understandable and accurate. If you don't assemble things a lot, or you are not "handy", you may find it challenging. You MUST take the time to ensure each step is assembled 100% correctly, and in the order they specify. That is not rocket-science, and patience will win the day. You MUST assemble it on a perfectly flat base or you will go nuts getting the panels square in the frame (especially the roof). It is engineering accurately, so if something is not square, gently tweak it into shape and it WILL square up. Don't move on until it is square! Make everything 75% tight, and do a final tightening only after everything is fully assembled and squared. Once squared and tightened, it is a remarkably stable structure, although delicate (as described above). When you are finished, a few strong bodies should be able to move the kit carefully without any problems. Just make sure you anchor it on another sturdy, flat base in its final position. The only alteration we made was to substitute longer screws a few places where they only grabbed 2 or 3 threads (the six plastic roof panel retainers, for example). The final assembly gets its stability from being fit properly and tightened completely. However, do NOT overtighten the screws that thread themselves into the frame, especially the too-short ones that I described. If you strip them, don't panic--just use a longer, slightly larger screw. MY TAKE ON THE MAJOR COMPLAINTS: Breaking and bending pieces should not be a problem if you take your time, don't force things, make sure to fit everything perfectly before tightening it or moving on. Therefore, assembling the kit on a flat base is a MUST. People who are breaking and bending things are not taking their time, not squaring the frame with the panels as they go, or forcing things into place because they are not working from a flat base. If the final installation is not on a flat, level base, something will eventually fail The walls need to be anchored to the base in the corners and the middle, so it doesn't get shifted out of square if bumped. If you don't use the over-the-top wind anchor kit, it WILL fail. We do mechanical work every day, and can say that although it is a delicate structure, it is fairly well engineered and stable when complete. It is not designed for commercial abuse, but it's not going to fall apart under normal use, or blow away in the wind! If you want to take shortcuts, or lack the patience to assemble this properly, look elsewhere. All said, it is a decent little kit, and looks very nice when complete! ... show more

  • Horrible product and worse customer service
Size: 6' x 10' x 7' Color: Silver
This is a very poor product. We installed this greenhouse on concrete and secured the frame to the concrete. After 1 week a 50 mph wind completely destroyed the greenhouse. We contacted the manufacturer to ask for some help. They said they would replace the damaged pieces at a discount but refused to tell us what that discount would be. Almost every piece was destroyed. A partial refund would have been considered a kind gesture but they refused. I also informed them that my 15yr old son saved money from selling pumpkins last year to purchase this product and now it is completely destroyed and he is out the money he saved. Horrible product and even worse customer service. Dont waste your money. ... show more

  • Surprisingly Sturdy Design
Size: 6' x 4' x 7' Color: Forest Green
I was pretty sceptical of this greenhouse when it showed up in a relatively small box with many very thin plastic parts amongst the aluminum frame. After last night's 45-50 Mph windstorm I'm pretty positive about this purchase. My wife and I hybridize roses as a hobby and we have gone through two of the really cheap greenhouses made with interconnected tubes. Those cheaper ones usually would last a single Seattle winter and recently we had two major windstorms which lifted tossed them around our yard just before we put our 1400 seeds in for stratification. With this greenhouse I was able to build a more solid base out of 4x4s, some weed barrier and some rocks. I screwed the base of the greenhouse into the 4x4s. It took me about nine hours to build, over the course of a few days, but if it wasn't raining it would have gone a lot faster. As I put it together I had more and more respect for the design. It was pretty simple, but clearly well thought out from a structural perspective. The one thing I didn't like about the greenhouse was the vent. It was clearly pretty weak and it would rip off in the wind - so I converted the vent to sliding by slipping the bottom of the vent square under the lip of the lower window. This seems to work great. It slides relatively easily and it isn't going to pop open under the weather. I added some rubberized tape to the bottom lip to make sure the water continued to run smoothly down the roof. Within short order we had all the rose seeds in pots in the greenhouse and last night a major windstorm came through. Trees fell all over the neighborhood, the power went out - and I went to bed having a nightmare of waking up to all of our pots spilled out because the plastic windows buckled under the onslaught. At 6am I woke up with the kids and went out and everything was perfect and undisturbed. After seeing our other tube-based greenhouse on it's side twice this winter this was a great relief. We will see how it survives over the years, and I'm a little concerned about replacement parts but so far so good. ... show more

  • Great customer service!
Size: 6' x 4' x 7' Color: Silver
OK, I had to put this together alone, most people said it was a 2 man job. WELL, this little old lady did it in about 6 hours, alone, so don't be scared to get this if you have to do it by yourself. I had 1 issue, one piece of the door frame was twisted in transit, so I called customer service, and a nicer lady I have never dealt with! She asked me the model and part number, and sent the replacement part. Such a pleasure to talk to! This is the perfect size for seed starting, and over wintering delicate perennials. Really love it! ... show more
