  • Nice complete violin for beginers
Size: 1/2 size
We bought this as a gift for our 10 year old nephew who started playing at school. I was a little hesitant based on the low price. But when he got it he was very pleased. We couldn't figure out how to use the tuner but he had his music teacher tune it for him and she told him it was a very nice beginner instrument. He has had it for 6 months now and plays it almost every day in school and practices at home. It is still in near new condition. He has given us several home "performances" and it sounds very good. It comes with everything that is needed to get a great start. If he continues with it and needs a larger size I would definitely buy another larger one. ... show more

  • It works I guess
Size: Full size
My son rented a SUPER nice violin for a few months but he really preferred to "dabble" than keep taking lessons, so I didn't want to pay $800 to buy it or keep paying to rent - so I was like I'll just buy a cheap one online. He'd liked the sound from paititi best based on some youtube reviews of the more popular cheap violins on amazon, and with the very low price, this seemed like a good choice. WElp... First off the rented one, everything was done for us, it was tuned and Never came out of tune in all the months we used it. This one, as I read of course, isn't even close to tuned, but it's very confusing trying to tune it - the tiniest adjustment on those tuner things, like 1mm shift, and the string jumps several notes! So getting the tuning right is tricky, plus the tuners loosen! All of a sudden they unwind 100% and you have a super slack string. Gonna have to find a way to tighten those tuning pegs so they don't just randomly unwind. Another error I have to fix, is the thing that holds the strings, is cut wrong - I'm gonna have to recut it, else you can't play the 3rd string without hitting the 2 adjacent strings simultaneously. Hopefully I can shave it down just to the correct curvature! The bow on the rented one was well balanced and good quality as well... this one always feels "loose" no matter how much you tighten it, and is very wide, and already some hairs broke. I did get it rosin'd enough to play however and it "works." The case seems solid, nice for carrying, compartment for tuner/rosin.. but the place where the bow hangs? The bow hairs catch in that and it rips the hairs out. Gotta be Really careful taking the bow out. The actualy violin feels kinda light/cheap compared to our rented one. The sound isn't as rich and resonant either. But it "works." Or it will once I fix the wood thing that raises the strings. Might make a few more adjustments to it as well. For the price, and once you can get it all set up properly, it's certainly worth it, for a kid or someone just dabbling. Might rate up to a 4 if I can get it working better :D ... show more

  • Better Quality than offered by school
Size: 1/4 size
I bought this because the violin offered by the school was full size and my child needed a smaller size according to the music teacher, so I bought this and was pleased by the quality, sound and sturdiness of the instrument. Perfect as a first violin

  • Slightly off from the picture but alright overall
Size: Full size
So this violin came in a timely manner and arrived unscathed. The bridge was in place everything seemed in order. The violin had this kinda wood/smooth plastic feel but it looked alright. The case is poorly made. The curved piece at the top that holds the bows in place came broken off... I was able to place it back but after that it was never as stable as it should have. The box at the top is hard to bring out and harder to keep it closed so the rosin and tuner don't fall out. the plastic bow holders that twist vertically and horizontally was also broken... it spun like a pinwheel... The tuner and the shoulder rest were pretty good, For someone who has had their orchestra teacher tune their instrument all their violin career It was pretty easy to tune by myself. Just gotta make sure the tuner is set to the violin setting, you're only turning the pegs slightly at a time, and that you're pushing in while tuning so that it stays in the position you wanted it in. https://youtu.be/IWAFbV0bTrw use that to figure it out. It's basically the same. You clip the tuner to the scroll and tune it with the pegs and fine tuners until the tuner flashes green. The bow like all new bows had to be rosined a-lot to get a sound... The shoulder rest was adjusted to the 4/4 size and it fit and felt AMAZING... If you need a beginner set this one is worth your money... with some patience and love I hope this instrument will get me through hs orchestra... ... show more

  • Great Value for Beginner Violin
Size: 1/8 size
This product is perfect for very little children who want to start the violin. My daughter started on a similar violin when she was three years old. My son, who is three now, just began taking lessons using this violin. They grow out of each side so quickly at this age you don't want to spend a lot of money. At the same time, you want a good enough violin they can learn on. Pleased with this purchase for its purpose. ... show more
