The sacrificial anode rod is a key component in water heaters. The minerals attack the anode rather than the heater elements and your water tank. It's important that this gets replaced before it's completely shot. This is a good value and they seem to work as intended. Usually after 1 year of service, I can see quite a bit of degradation and this tells me that it's doing its job. Campgrounds typically have very hard water and who knows what else. Having an extra on hand just gives me peace of mind. Just FYI: It's not common knowledge that even in residential water heaters the only difference between the 5-year warranty water heater and the 10 or 15-year warranty water heater is mostly just the diameter of the anode rod. By replacing the anode rod before it's completely gone, you can extend the life of your water heater significantly assuming you perform regular maintenance by flushing it. ... show more

Changed out my anode rode on my 2018 Heartland (Texas Edition) trailer. I recommend having some PB blaster and a breaker bar on hand if your old rod was rusty like mine. The rod fit perfectly, I recommend buying a water heater sprayer with them so that it will make it easier to clean out the calcium at the bottom of your water heater tank when you drain it out. I used a gardening hose sprayer, which worked but took about 40 minutes to fully clean it out with it. I will update this review in 8 months when I change the rod out again and will let people know how good it held up. Here is a photo of my old rod compared to this new one I just put in. ... show more

Works as intended since water in the tank seems to erode the inner surface. This anode rod attracts materials to it that helps prevent erosion. This is good for a year and comes with a handy tape in the package. It's a good alternative replacement rod for the suburban 232767 part.

Replaced a very old, deteriorated anode on my camper. Be sure to drain all the water out of the system before you remove the old anode! We forgot and got a blast of water.
