In winter, where batteries go to die in sub zero temps, this battery maintainer does the job as the integral electronic features slowly drain the power source (auto battery) to zero with enough watts/amps….     • Stopped working after 2 months (Or so I thought) [UPDATED REVIEW]

Original Review: At first I really liked the panel, I have a Bluetooth adapter that reads battery voltage and I could see the charge go up if I sat there for a few seconds. I was checking voltage regularly (every 2 or 3 days) to make sure it was keeping my battery at the properly charged, which it was. So when I finally decided to trust this and not be checking it so often, it stops working. Now I have a dead battery and will have to pay to have it replaced. Not happy. Updated Review: Let me start by saying that the reason my battery drained was not this solar panel's fault. Turns out the Hands-Free Link module in my car had gone bad and was draining the battery even when the car was off. Once that was found to be the issue, thanks to a friend that has the same car I do and coincidentally started having the same battery drain issue too, he told me what was causing and how to get to it to unplug it to test if my HFL module was draining the battery. After the HFL module was unplugged I then though to take this solar panel out from storage and check, I had not used it since I labeled it as "bad" but never got to throw it away since I thought it did put out some power just not enough for my car. Well now I can say that my car can sit indefinitely, the battery will not die anymore and has not gone bellow 12.3 volts even after 3 weeks of the car not being used. ... show more

I have this mounted inside of a car windshield to keep the battery charged. The car only gets driven every two weeks and every time I go to start it , it starts with no problem. Not sure why 4 stars as opposed to 5. I just have a feeling that it won't last long. But I have had it for 6 months now and it still works fine. ... show more

    • Terrible Design Flaw

I wish companies would stop selling garbage like this that they have clearly never tried to use themselves. The power connector on the back sticks out about 3 times too far to even use the four suction cups to stick this to a windshield or sunroof, which is what I assume most people who get this to trickle charge a car battery are going to do. At most, you can only get two suction cups to hold and then a strong wind just blows it off. I have had some success with putting one edge of this panel under the wiper blade and then using two of the suction cups, and that seems to hold it down OK. But now I only get direct sunlight for half the day instead of mounting it on the sunroof, which should get sunlight most of the day. ... show more

I liked that it was easy to use and quick to install. It has a built-in charge controller so there isn't a whole lot of set up. The problem I had is that it would charge my battery up to 87% pretty quickly but then the charge would drop down from that point. If I didn't disconnect the solar panel, the charge would drop to 74% even though it was in full sun. It never really charges the battery fully in a day with the main power cable disconnected and the solar panel connected directly. I expected a little more from this solar panel, but for the price I can't complain. Maybe the seller could answer this problem here so that others could learn from this. Update, I was contacted by the seller and he seemed to think it was my battery that was faulty. I wrote back to them stating that I had thought the same about the battery but when I got home, I used my trickle charger and it fully charged. My point to this review was to state how the solar charger would charge pretty quickly but only to 87% then it would drop to 74% even though it was in full sun with nothing connected to the battery. ... show more

I use this to keep the battery charged on my second vehicle. Works good! The only problem I have is that the unit is supposed to indicate when a battery is at full charge, but this unit only indicates that it is actively charging. Not a big issue. Changed up a dead battery and was able to start the car as normal, so the charger works as intended. This has worked great for me! ... show more
