This purchase was for my back patio. The wood seems to be just the natural wood without any finish which is great as I want to varnish it another color. The chair was pretty easy to put together ... I'm a bit slow so it took me about 45 minutes from unpacking, identify the pieces, and then put the chair together (note most of the chair is already assembled so you only need to attached the connecting parts, i.e. the back rest to the seat, seat to the legs, etc. The seller's description said that the chair would hold up to 220 lbs, but I'm not sure about that as I'm 180 and when I sat in the chair I definitely heard some cracking happening, but maybe that was just the sound it makes in the first sitting. When I sat in it a second time I didn't hear anything going on and I didn't see any actual cracking in the wood. Once in the chair, I felt that it was sturdy and I was safe - nothing scary happening. I would NOT say the chair was roomy unless you are a very thin person, but I would say that I was able to fit in it comfortably. I paid full price for this chair and do not feel the price was too much for what I received. Only time will tell how long the chair will last, but since I put it together, and feel all the parts (nuts and bolts) seemed to be of good quality, I'm thinking the chair will last at least a few seasons. Thanks for reading my review! Instructions were pretty clear, but the materials don't seem high grade. I've already noticed one of the parts that has developed a crack, and it was hardly used as we went into Winter and it was put away. The color is awesome, and it really stands out; I wouldn't use this for extended periods of time without a cushion. Being able to pull out the ottoman and putting it away is great. The actual size seems smaller than the standard; I'm a smaller guy (5'8" and 170 lbs.) and fir perfectly so I'd worry about dudes who are 6 feet plus. This is more like a $60-70 item to me. ... show more
