This came in today. We are boaters and require our dogs to wear flotation vests while traveling to our destination. We adopted a very large new fur baby and I was concerned about getting a sturdy life vest. Well this is definitely it. The fit was perfect for the measurements. The Velcro and buckles are strong. The handle straps are able to lift his 82 pounds if necessary. He is able to move in it without an issue and appears to be very comfortable. The large size fits my 55lb dog perfectly and he seems very comfortable in it. I especially like the two handles which are very handy for boarding my boat and if he ever fell overboard I can haul him in with a boat hook easily

"Dawson" model swim jacket is my fav and my 2 dogs. My small dogs hates wearing anything and she always happily puts this on, and she's not even much of water lover but this is comfortable based on my observation of it's construction and my little ones behavior. I think this is a good vest for beginners or not strong swimmers, and also active swimmers since the style has no material around front legs so it allows for more comfortable range of motion as well. CON = getting the right fit. I had to size down for both my dog's measurements vs the size chart so maybe others need to also. My smaller dog is a solid 17" rib cage girth (all her clothes and harnesses are for 17") and I re-measured her when I ordered this but she fits in XS for this product with the straps almost as short as they go. Odd as XS says the biggest girth is 15" yet the S was still too loose by a couple inches with all straps as short as possible. Likewise my other dog actually fits a M, yet size chart indicated she'd be a L but it was far too big. PROS = *This life vest has excellent boyancy but is not bulky. *It is easy to adjust the straps and then just take off and on by the 3 clips. *It is very secure under the belly and for the chin/chest when it is the right fit for your dogs body type. And the front under chin material is not obnoxiously bulky like other models. *No Velcro! which my dogs hate the sound of and velcro sucks with sand and hair obviously. *The quick grab handle runs vertical with the spine which doesn't create much water resistance as others that have a strap across body left to right. *No chaffing around front legs because there is no material or extra sand to rub near the armpits because of the open front style that doesn't go down & under the center chest and between the front legs. Update: As expected when my dachshund got so excited and wanted to play hard, his arm got caught in the upper strap but as I stated in the post, always be with your dog. Thankfully he was in my held arms as this happened so I caught it. Can’t say this is was due because I was holding him or not. Another update is that it started to rip on top. So I’ll downgrade this rating. Old review: We love this for our dachshund for a couple of reasons. First, it’s a long enough to cover majority of my doxie’s back. Second, since our dogs are already so low, the front floater is essential for our babies to keep their head more afloat with support. I would say though that you should fasten the velcro higher than you usually would to ensure better support when swimming. Fasten it more than you would in all the straps. Third, I think the material is solid and keeps afloat. As always, NEVER leave your dog unattended, ESPECIALLY for dachshunds who are already height unique. I will say, because of the product design, there is always a possibly of the the front legs of the dachshund of becoming stuck in front part of the vest if they pick up their legs too high (this is a possibility for any design similar to this such as winter jackets) - that is why to always keep an eye on your baby and strap the velcro higher. For the company, if you can make the back even slightly longer for our dachshunds that would be great. Otherwise, it works well! ... show more

These are perfect! We got matching floating leashes and can easily attach the boys to our kayaks for a great day on the water. They're easy to adjust and I love that they have full coverage underneath so I don't feel like they can slip out and the handle comes in super handy when my dog likes to launch into the water and needs to be pulled back in. Worth every penny. Bought this for our mini bernadoodle puppy Ollie. He hates anything wrapped around his body but was quite ok with this vest. The size chart was right on the money so fits him perfectly. I feel it adds just enough boyance to keep him safe in the water. The quality is better than a comparable one we bought from a chain pet store for our other dog. Our dogs can swim, but using life vests is a precaution we take when out in deeper water just in case they fall off the boat. [Size comment: our big boy is over 90 lbs and barrel chested. The size that fits his girth is a little long for his body. (So it sticks out past his bum and is a little awkward, but we're trying to be safe while underway, not create an outfit. This is a great life vest and works well... But I've had to purchase 2 due to issues with the stitching and the snaps. The first one ripped where the flotation part meets the belly band so it's not really able to keep my dog secured in the vest. And the second one has a faulty belly snap that's constantly falling out and getting my dog hung up on everything possible. The snap broke after the second time using it. That being said, I will buy a third because they are reasonably priced and are able to keep my English bulldog above water. I just wish they were a little higher quality. ... show more
