  • Perfect protection
Size: Medium
Saved my booty! Have 2 previous injuries from hard landings and these impact shorts prevented any new ones. My 21 year old son has a pair and he highly recommended them to me. At 54 years old, having the extra protection is invaluable!

  • Pads in all the right places for snowboarding
Size: Large
I kept falling and landing in the same place while snowboarding, but a lot of the products I could find online were for general sports use and did seem to have pads covering the right area for snowboarding, but this one is perfect. The pads are firm so they offer good protection, but the articulation in them makes this not feel too bulky. It still has that bit of diaper feel to them, but there's no way around that with padded shorts. Once it's under ski bibs or pants, you don't notice them at all, really. After falling without these and getting injured enough to sideline me for a month, I'm not boarding without them ever again. Heads up - the sizing is probably a size down from what you're used to. I'm 6'4", 230lb, and wear an XL in all other pants, but the L size of these fits me very well, maybe even a tad loose. ... show more

  • Comfortable enough for high risk activities?
Size: Small
I tend to partake in some moderately high risk activities like snowboarding, skateboarding, mountain biking and dirt bike riding. I don't take as many risks as I did in my younger days, and I try to wear an appropriate level of protective gear suited to the activity, the type of terrain I'm riding and the level of aggressiveness I intend to exert. When I saw these padded undershorts I thought - oh yeah I could use those! And they do offer a greater level of padding and protection right in a key zone for falls in all the sports I love to do: primarily the hip and lower spine area. While they offer more protection, of course they reduce comfort somewhat. So you really need to think a bit when you get dressed for your fun day. How insane will I be this day? For me, I won't wear these skateboarding, because I'm fairly conservative on a skateboard and don't anticipate a high chance of injury. If I was in a skateboard competition I would absolutely wear these things. Likewise, I'd have to foresee a pretty intense day of snowboarding or downhill mountain biking to don these superman undies. If I was riding Moab, yeah there's a decent chance I'd put these on in the morning. But I'd worry about the amount of chafing I might receive on a longer mountain bike ride. Where I don't have any problem wearing these shorts is on my dirtbike. While I don't crash often, I do put the bike in the dirt enough to warrant this extra little insurance policy and I suppose they'd be valuable on a street bike as well if you're into taking risks. I guess the bottom line is: do you fall down a lot? If so maybe you should wear a pair of these. ... show more

  • Rear pads are very long and touch the top of thigh
Size: Small
These are well made crash pads but the rear pads seem unnecessarily long, perhaps I am too short for these, but the bottom of the pad rubs against my upper thigh making it uncomfortable to walk. Maybe not a problem if snowboarding or skiing most of the day but uncomfortable nonetheless. This may be ideal for taller people that want more coverage. Will be looking for a different pair. ... show more

  • Well designed and implimented
Size: Large
The padding on these shorts is very thick, and although seems restricting, is divided at points to allow for virtually the same range of movement as you would have without them. I prefer this to the 'one piece padding' approach many other padded shorts have adopted. You'll know they're there the entire time your in them, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. You'll still 'feel' the impact, but will likely walk away from 'contact' directly to the padded area(s) with ZERO damage to the protected area(s). The front is very breathable and the waste band is thick and very well made. There are small strips of 'rubber' around the inside of the leg openings that will help prevent 'roll up' while performing certain maneuvers/activities. I wish I had these last year when the gods ripped my bike out from under me at well over 40mph on a downhill run where I fractured my hip bone and tore some muscles (think grapefruit sized Seroma)... they would have prevented at least 70% of my injuries. All in all, these are very well made and should last many many miles. I hope this helps. ... show more

  • FOR AVERAGE SIZED MEN ONLY!
Size: Large
Don’t purchase this if you’re a woman, short, or curvy in any way. The padding is stiff and the appropriate parts of the protection will only go where they are supposed to go if you’re a standard sized male.

  • Awesome
Size: Small
These padded shorts have ample padding and fit great, stretchy spandex type material contours to your body shape for an amazing fit, and plenty of padding to protect your bits and bobbles should you take a spill. The material is soft and lightweight and quite comfortable, and in the few minutes I had them on for the picture I noticed they were quite warm. I'm a little fella at 5'6 and 130 lb, I got the small and they fit perfect. Recommended! ... show more

  • Good Padding, Digs Into Bum
Size: Large
I play roller derby and bought these pads to protect my tailbone and hips from falls and hits. I ordered a large, which fit like a men's large. They are a little tough to pull up, but they stay up well. The bands are not too constricting or tight. The padding is effective, but it is not as pliable as I would have hoped and the shape is not ideal for very active sports (roller derby, hockey, etc.). As another user pointed out, the lower part of the butt pad rubs awkwardly against my upper thigh/bum. When seated, the length and placement land where my sit bones are (which is ideal) but the rigidity of the pads and the shape make it a distraction when trying to skate hard. Overall I think these are good quality and worth the price, but may be more suited for less mobile types of sports like skiing, snowboarding, etc. ... show more
