This is nice edge or decorative fencing but it's not going to keep an animal in or out of whatever you're trying to keep them in or out of if they have a brain. Luckily my dogs are dumb as dirt and haven't figured out they could knock these over with ease if they truly wanted to. They're very easy to put together and install. Mine are currently protecting a new garden section in my garden that my dogs used to have free run of but now need to be protected from. I might need to get something heavier duty in the future but I've been pleasantly surprised at how well this has held up so far. So as long as you're just using it decoratively (or your dogs share one brain cell), this is a great option. ... show more

We have two dogs, one a large Malamute Husky and the other a tiny but fearless chihuahua, that we want to keep out of a budding memorial garden for their passed siblings. The Malamute tends to go wherever she wants and tramples whatever is beneath her, while the chihuahua thinks everything she can put in her big mouth is food of some kind. Most dogs might play with sticks, but she'll try eating them. So, until the garden grows and is better established, we thought this little border fence might help. Good news is that it has. Bad news is we've had to steady a few together with black zip ties as a few of the inserts (or whatever they're called) wouldn't fit inside the black ring attachments very well. I ordered this to use as a barrier around our front flower bed. Our dogs have a short leash we sometimes use to let them sit on the front porch and watch the world. Unfortunately, in order to have enough slack to let them off the porch to pee if they need to, they also have enough slack to reach the flower bed and bird feeders to eat the seed off the ground. So I wanted something. The listing had me believing it would be a little bit less flimsy than it is, and unfortunately I'm disappointed. Once assembled, it is sturdy enough to stand up on its own, and will keep an honest or lazy dog out. But the moment they put their feet onto it to try and lean on it, it's coming down. Even something small like a schnauzer would bring it down. Our lab is fairly honest and it will probably keep him out until he realizes that leaning on it will take it down. So, for now, it works. Quality-wise it's about what you would expect, maybe a little less, for no-brand Chinese made product. Three of my lower panels had missing welds, and there were alignment issues on some of the wires. Assembly was not complicated, but tedious. The plastic stakes and parts that hold panels together are pretty tight and tough to get on - which is good for keeping it together, but not good if you have any kind of sore joints or carpal tunnel syndrome. Though this is a tall animal barrier, I do wish it would be sold in one piece per panel, but it seems everything these days must be made to fit a shorter box for transport. The black plastic connectors that attach the top and bottom pieces seem like they could easily break when pressing hard on just one panel, but when interlocked with all the other panels, the fencing gains strength. This would definitely keep my well-behaved 50-pound dog in, but probably not a heavy, determined dog. Many of the ad photos show the fence installed somewhat permanently right in the grass, but this would actually be impractical for any of these types of fence panels. I'd only install this in something like mulch, sand, or I'd plan to pull it out for mowing. ... show more

It's finally here but it seems to be worth the wait. It's heavy guage steel and sturdy. It's easy to intall. The stakes just screw in and then just push it into the ground. The stakes are plastic but I think that will help to prevent rust too. Good finish on the metal. The connectors make it easy enough to shape it around the area we needed to protect from our dogs. Our dogs are small so it works well but may not hold up to big dogs. The height is greater than most fences like this. With extra sets, it has great possibilities. ... show more

Most of these type of barriers are pretty short (especially when you subtract for the part that sticks in the ground) so I appreciate the extra height on these. They're still not really a reliable pet barrier, but I use mine in the garden for extra support for bush beans.
