  • Over All Great Value
Style: Mega 2+240W Panel
I like that the price of LiFePo batteries is dropping. Hoping for the next generation. I use this for camping and just toying around. Love that it comes with various connector types that make it easy to combine with other panels or powering sources. Charges VERY fast if you can provide all the wattage. So far it looks good. Ran my Macbook Pro for 20+/- hours, can run a small seed starter indoor light for about 14-16 hours. Over all I am happy with it, support was excellent which is a huge factor when dealing with anything this pricey. The original order went someone where else or they ran out. Anyhow they recommended this and offered additional discount on top of Amazon Prime specials. ... show more

  • Great Camping / Occasional Home use
Style: Mega 2+240W Panel
Got my Mega 2 just before Christmas and solar panel a few days later. Have done a quick checking with solar panel and AC charging. It charge well with each of the two methods, the noise is low and the response is good. Both product seems to be well built and well thought out. MC4 to various adapters are provided and come in handy. Cable seems to be thick and good. Overall, my impression is good and glad that I decided on this brand. Mega 2 for me is a "multi-use generator" where I can use it for camping and at home as well. This is the main reason I choose Mega 2. If you are concern about the weight, you could use a light duty hand truck to carry it to your vehicle and just lift it. It is more liftable than Mega 3 for sure even though Mega 3 has wheels. ... show more

  • Could use some work
Style: Mega 2
I just got this thing today, and so far, I'm fairly annoyed. The first thing I did was try to plug it in from the shelf I built for it. The power cable for the device is four feet long. I even went to buy a longer cable. Apparently Oupes thinks four feet is fine. I eventually got my workshop extension cord out just to plug it in, though I'm really not happy using an extension cord for something that can draw as many continuous amps as this thing will do when charging. I found a third party cable which can handle 15A, and I guess we'll see how that goes. The default setting for the device is fast charging, which seems to be around 2000W from the outlet, so 17A. Needless to say, you better not have anything else on that circuit under most circumstances with that setting. Luckily I found a video, put out by Oupes thankfully, that shows you how to manually change it from fast charge to less fast charge. The less fast charge is still 1000W. This should probably be the default. So, I decided to get the app since it wasn't fun to switch it to less fast charge. In fact, you have to unplug everything to do that. It also took me a while to figure out that you have to unplug everything to turn the unit off. Why? Seriously, why? Anyway, you can look at the reviews on the app on the Play Store to figure out my next complaint. There's dozens of "It won't connect to bluetooth." I can verify this. I tried resetting the phone. Turning the bluetooth on the phone off and on. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app. It also suggested turning off the Mega 2 and turning it back on, which took me a long time to figure out I needed to unplug the solar to get the unit to turn off. Also, the DC power was on. There's no LEDs for what's on and what's off, so I missed this for a while. Anyway, that needed to be off. Everything unplugged and off, otherwise you can't turn off the Mega 2. When turning the phone's bluetooth on and off, I can see the Mega 2 in the list bluetooth devices under the name "TT". When I pair with "TT", the bluetooth light on the Mega 2 stays lit but the app still fails. I eventually happened upon a video by Oupes yet again dealing with the new app. So, if you're having trouble pairing to the app, try this nugget from the video. After waiting for it not to pair, even though your phone sees the Mega 2, press and hold the IoT button on the Mega 2 for three seconds while the phone is still scanning. Then hit the IoT button again to turn it on. This actually got my device to pair with the phone. Another thing that seems really odd is that the battery will read 100% charged, yet will continue to draw 800W from the outlet for some reason. The display won't say it's drawing anything. The app will show it drawing from the grid, but it's also showing 150W less than what the meter on the outlet shows. I'm guessing 100% is just anything over 99%? Now, I'd like to say some nice things. Oupes YouTube Channel. It's almost better than the manual. Plus the guy looks like Radar O'Reilly. They include every cable you could possibly want, except an 8' AC cable. There's a car charging cable, an anderson to anderson cable, an anderson to MC4 cable, and so on. Top notch in terms of connectivity cables. I have yet to string together enough solar panels to hit that 2100W thing, but it's taken five 100W panels in series like a champ. ... show more
