This is the most industrial solar panel wire you can purchase. It features double jacketing with an extremely tough outer layer that can withstand nicks, scrapes, weather, and abrasion. I was initially hesitant to purchase this wire because it was more expensive than some local suppliers in my area. However, the high quality of this wire makes it worth every penny. I plan to purchase more for future projects.

I bought this wire and I tested it. Results indicate it is in fact copper. I'm always skeptical of aluminum wire being substituted for what is claimed to be copper. So I tested this. I stripped the insulation. I scraped the stranded wires with a sharp knife for a few minutes. This is normally enough to strip away the tin coating. Then I cut off about 2" of the strand bundle, placed it in a glass bowl and poured concentrated hydrochloric acid into the bowl. Aluminum with react quickly, bubble (H2) and heat. Noe of these behaviors occurred. The strands just sat there in the acid. So, I conclude that this wire is not aluminum and most probably copper.

I don't know much about electrical wiring & such. I wanted something I could just connect to an existing cable. And maybe this is it, but I haven't learned that yet. So it does require SOME technical knowledge, I'm just not sure how much. More than I have for sure. I'm sure I can find the info online, but that's a consideration I didn't take into account when ordering. But so far it seems simple enough. If you have a friend or relative who knows electricity, they probably know what to do. As far as cables go, this is heavy duty. It's thick, strong & heavy. Bigger gauge than copper wires & has a tough protective jacket. I have other outdoor cables that aren't this well protected, & they're fine outdoors all year round. I'll learn how to connect this soon.
