I bought this case to replace the clear gadget case that came with my Ultra 23. The gadget case was very difficult to put on and almost impossible to take off without cracking it. The grip/ kickstand was in the wrong place for my hand. I much prefer a pop socket to be placed where it is more comfortable for me. This case went on easily. This definitely holds up. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not careless and reckless with my phone, but I do toss it on my bed, onto my bag at the gym, and yes I do occasionally drop it when I have a clumsy moment. Otterbox has never let me down when it comes to keeping my phone safe. As for the color, I am a huge fan of pink. My entire desk is pink everything and everyone knows that's my color. However, since otterbox didn't offer this case in pink, I went with this lavender/lilac purple color and I absolutely love it. It has sparked a love for that color as well.
