The weight of this case increases the burden in the pocket but the tradeoff for protection makes up for it. I had this clipped to a flimsy belt on a run and it fell off mid-stride and tumbled across the asphalt into a cement curb. No damage. So, it already paid for itself. 4 years ago, when my phone was new, I put an otterbox on it before my phone ever left the house. I just replaced that first otterbox, since the charger port cover finally broke off- after 4 years of use. Let me tell you about those 4 years. When my phone was 6 months old, I left it on the back of my car when I was getting gas. Like everything that is placed on top of a car, it was forgotten- until I'd pulled out into 40mph traffic. That's when my bluetooth disconnected. That's when I knew that the cars behind me had just trampled my expensive new phone at over 40mph. By rights, my phone should have been smashed to smithereens. I recovered my phone- after watching a few cars run it over some more. The screen was nothing but shards of broken glass. But my bluetooth reconnected. And stayed connected all day at work. After all that, the only thing broken was my screen, and a few dings and cracks in the hard plastic of my amazing case. I got a new screen installed and kept using that same case for another 3.5 years. It is a little bulky, it is a little thick, it's not very sexy, but it will protect your phone like nothing else. I will never have a phone that's not covered in an otterbox. They are worth every penny every time. ... show more

This case is amazing as all of my Otterbox cases. I drop my phone A LOT! Like every day! It has protected my screen amazingly well. For over 5 years the Defender has been the ONLY case I feel comfortable putting on my phone. If you've never had an Otterbox Defender before, be aware that it does add a bit of bulk to the phone, but that's a trade-off I'm more than willing to accept! I got the "Blue Suede Shoes" color which looks great, but it doesn't exactly match how the color looks in the photos. The blue and the tan are lighter colors in person. The blue definitely isn't navy like it looks in the pics. ... show more

I expected to get longer use of the case and holster. Admittedly, the phone was dropped a number of times. The phone did not suffer additional damage but the case frame cracked at a corner. It was still functional. I removed a star primarily for the holster. It no longer secured my phone this resulting in my phone just dropping out at will. Defeats the purpose.
