Description

Since Osprey was founded in 1974, every single product design has passed through the hands of owner and founder Mike Pfotenhauer, who created his first backpack at age 16. In Santa Cruz, California, the young entrepreneur opened a retail shop in the front of his rental house where backpackers and travelers came for custom-fit, made-to-order packs constructed over several days by Mike himself. As the demand for the great-fitting packs increased, Osprey found itself relocating to its current home in Southwest Colorado. Today, Osprey is a melting pot of diverse personalities, backgrounds and abilities. All share the common belief that adventure is open to everyone and found anywhere.

  • Sturdy with minimal shortcomings ..
Color: Wave Blue Size: O/S Style: Daylite Plus Daypack
I just did Europe with my Daylite Plus. Super sturdy and durable build and material. When I first got it, I thought the secondary (shallower) zip compartment was silly, because, well, shallow. Now I find it is just right, b/c its shallowness allows broader bulk carry in the primary/main compartment, and quick easy access to all items in the shallow one. The outer tuck/cinch pouch proved useful for caps, doggie-bags/snacks, sunblock, etc. I don't think it was big enough to safely hold my jacket, which was relegated to the main pouch. The 2 water bottle pouches are deep enough (even though I still managed to lose a bottle on public transit). The rearmost tiny zip pouch was handy for passport, ear buds, etc. Probably my biggest gripe is that there was no interior zipper pouch(es) or screen/mesh pouch(es) for small loose items, such as cables/adaptors, coins, chapstik, batteries, pens/utensils, etc. The 2 pouches were ok I guess, but just not the same b/c small items can spill out. Those were useful for eyeglass cases, Clif bars, etc. My old Flash 22 had a zip pouch or 2, which I miss. During use, the darned thing seemed heavy. That is, until I got home and emptied it and discovered it was merely my contents, the daypack's weight is light, and fine. Commendable for its sturdy nature. At first I thought I wouldn't like the straps because they carried a lightweight foam padding within, and my previous Flash 22 had none, which kept things light and compact(able). (BTW, my son thought just the opposite-- not enough strap padding to suit his taste..). As it turns out, I think the amount of padding they chose is just superb. The real plus is the warranty. Any time, any reason. Wow. Compare that to the Flash 22 which is one year. There really IS no comparison, and I will never buy another branded pack from the (un-named) Flash 22 retailer again. Kudos and props to you, Osprey! Just add in an interior zip pouch or two, will ya-? And maybe some kind of a keeper strap of option for the side water bottle pouches .. ... show more

  • Amazing hiking day pack
Color: Black Size: O/S Style: Daylite Plus Daypack
This bag strikes the perfect balance between a hiking day pack and a city-friendly backpack. It could be further improved by including places for attaching items with carabiners or straps - it would be useful to secure walking poles, for instance. On the upside, it boasts ample storage space, a compartment for a hydration bladder or laptop, and comfortably padded shoulder straps. It also has stretchy exterior pockets, multiple zippered compartments, an airflow mesh back, and both chest and waist straps for stability. However, its one drawback is the lack of loops or straps for attaching extra gear. This minor shortcoming aside, it's an exciting hybrid pack that checks most boxes for both urban and outdoor use. ... show more

  • So far so good!
Color: Cosmic Red Size: One Size Style: Daylite Plus Daypack
The bag pack has a nice style with several pockets big and wide enough to play your stuffs. The color is stylish, you can use the bag to go to work and do any other thing with it. For a day hike is fine because it’s not that big but I actually thought it was a bit bigger than how actual is. The front pocket can not be filled too much because the main pocket won’t have much space either so you must play it smart with your packing. I just don’t like that it doesn’t stand by itself. The straps don’t convince me too much. I feel they hurt my shoulders sometimes and my back is a bit uncomfortable at the end of the day. I like the brand and the bag but I think it could improve some features of it to make it even better. ... show more

  • I bought this for Europe
Color: Cosmic Red Size: One Size Style: Daylite Plus Daypack
I used this backpack on my trip to Europe, and it was perfect. I carried it on the airplane and was able to put my purse inside of it and other things. I was only allowed one personal item and it was this backpack. It’s lightweight and compact enough to make it easy to carry.

  • Good size backpack for day trips
Color: Cosmic Red Size: One Size Style: Daylite Plus Daypack
The backpack is well made and light weight. The extra storage in the front is a big plus, providing easy-access space for a light jacket. It is pricey though. You can find a similar backpack for much less if the brand name doesn't matter.

  • Appears well made
Color: Nightingale Yellow Size: One Size Style: Daylite Plus Daypack
Have not used extensively, but the quality appears good. Has a comfortable fit, and importantly deep pockets for holding larger water bottles

  • Holds the big water bottles
Color: Meereswellen Size: One Size Style: Daylite Plus Daypack
This bag holds the big water bottles (40oz) that others don’t and has the side straps to secure them in place. I haven’t found another bag with that design. Lightweight, weatherproof, nice organization, and very comfy. The ventilated padded back keeps you cool. The hip & chest straps are light & useful when you need them, but can be left undone without getting in the way. If you clip the hip strap, you can slip the bag over your carry-on luggage handle & secure it from the top handle… very handy at the airport. I used this bag for our trip to Yellowstone. It took some abuse & still looks great. My husband’s other name brand daypack didnt hold up as well. This bag is going to be getting a lot of use. ... show more

  • Solid upgrade from the Osprey Daylite
Color: Black Size: O/S Style: Daylite Plus Daypack
The original Osprey Daylite has been with me for nearly a decade. Holding strong through international flights, Day hikes, camping trips and rock climbing. This pack is a solid upgrade from the original. Osprey fixed the cup holding mesh on the sides and removed the hydration pouch. Which I found redundant anyway. After spending some time with this pack, I would choose the plus over the original. ... show more
