Just assembled and it is sturdy and looks great! I am giving it four stars because the installation was tough and in order to make it work we had to omit some of the wooden dowels. Note: no spouses were harmed in the making of this island, but some feelings were hurt.

Over all, the island is sturdy and well built. The top of the island has cracked and unfortunately my return window has closed. One of the drawers doesn’t close well and like other reviewers said the handles fall off.

The media could not be loaded. This island was a kitchen-maker for us. We needed storage, work space, and an eat-in area, all in one. This delivered all that in one beautiful, well-built furniture piece!! We’ve had it about 4 months now and still can’t believe the incredible craftsmanship of this furniture, it really is so well built and well-planned. Visitors to our home are amazed it wasn’t built in! It looks and feels like a custom piece, and the storage inside is both spacious AND incredibly practical. I can fit all of my pots and pans in the cabinet, all of my baking sheets/racks in the vertical storage, and all my large utensils in the drawers, PLUS we have space for not just one but TWO miscellaneous drawers. I haven’t even had to use the spice racks on the sides yet! This piece is incredible, we have no regrets, just day after day of delightful use. ... show more

UPDATE: After 6 months, the island is still going strong except the hardware is starting to fall apart. We are constantly having to reattach the handles to the drawers. My wife and I love the island. We even matched the paint so we could paint our kitchen cabinets the same color. Easy to build, took less than 30 minutes, and can be done by one person but two people is more fun. ... show more
