Everyone loves rolled hot dogs from the gas stations and convenience stores right? This little number does the trick at home so that you can get the same experience! It’s surprisingly well built, and although not large it has enough capacity for 2-4 people depending on your appetite. The bun warming compartment is a nice feature, just make sure to wrap them in foil to keep them nice and soft. It takes about 30-45 minutes to get that shimmering slightly brownish tint on the hot dogs that are the staple of the gas station rollers. My wife bought me this for xmas because I thought it was fun. I didn't really expect it to do anything more than warm the dogs up a little and maybe the buns a bit. It actually cooks the dogs super well, they taste much better made on this thing and the buns come out nice and toasty. I was surprised how tasty dogs made on this little guy are. It wasnt too hard to clean, I turned the rollers on to clean all sides. Can't say much about durability yet, only used it once. ... show more

I am a fan of gas station hot dogs so I do like the flavor and the cooking style of this product. I have this in our pool house. It works great to have hot dogs ready throughout the day to snack on. Get regular size hot dogs. Not bun size. They are slightly too long. The timer will end the heating at a certain point. It only take a minute or two to warm them back up. The cover is a big plus as it keeps bugs and anything else airborne away from the hot dogs while they are cooking and when they Are sitting. You should cover the buns with foil to keep them in the warmer. If you do, they will be soft and warm. If you do not, the buns will dry and start to harden. I purchased a box of 500 cut foils that easily wrap the buns. ... show more

This thing is one of those kitchen tools you imagine will save lots of labor and mess and add fun to meals. In reality, it’s cute, it seems well-constructed, and it sort of works, but there’s no real magic. First off is the big sticker on the top that warns the user that “apparent” smoke will exit the unit the first time you use it. It also warns you to remove the sticker before use… guess what. It’s one of THOSE stickers. Took me 5 minutes. Next, I fired it up to burn off the magic smoke. For a couple of minutes nothing happened and then the genie was released, billowing for about 20 seconds. Surprisingly, the smell was not unpleasant, and it did eventually stop. Next, I tried to stick in two ballpark buns and two Oscar Meyer beef hotdogs. The buns had to be slightly squished to fit and even then I had to smack them lightly to get them to go down when I pressed the toaster lever. I set it for medium (noon), it cooked for a couple of minutes, it popped up, and everything smelled like food. Sadly, the warm buns had burned edges and the hotdogs were cold. Obviously this unit has to be used in stages, probably running the hotdogs through twice on different settings and the buns added the second time. Conclusion: it will give the kids something to play with, and there’s no boiling water involved, and you won’t end up with microwave mouth burns or nuked chewy buns, but it’s far from perfect and is not going to deliver a meal in less than five minutes. This worked beautifully on the weiners. Only did two Hebrew National weiners. Absolutely delicious! Costco got away from Hebrew National hot dogs a few years ago and went to Kirkland. They are not as tasty. I used the 30 mns on the timer. Didn't bother with warming buns. I simply put them in a quart size Ziploc on defrost in the microwave for 20 seconds. They were soft and hot. I did think the racks for the buns were a little chintzy. There is only one drip or crumb tray that is optional to use under the buns or under the weiners. USE IT UNDER THE WEINERS. You don't want the drippings to fall onto your buns. Cleaning the rollers was awkward because you cannot remove them, but once you remove the drip tray, you can get under the rollers easily. This is perfect for a couple of people who just want to eat hot dogs and hot ones. A good buy. P.S. The company used strapping/filament tape to hold the lid and door closed. This was foolish. The gunk cannot be removed. I used a no-scratch cleaning pad and the sticky goop will not come off. They already sent this packaged with protection over the lid and door. Nothing was going to come open. It also fits snuggly in its' own box, as well. They should not have used ANY tape on this appliance. So, I have sticky unsightly areas on lid and door.
