  • Dont believe the hate
I bought this tool to change the chain on my 2002 honda shadow spirit vt750dc. I upgraded from a 39 tooth to a 42 tooth rear sprocket and a new D.I.D. VX3 525 122 link chain. I almost went ahead and bought a Motion Pro chain breaker tool for $135 because i saw the reviews on here sharing their horror stories about them bending every pin and the tool being a waste of money. Then, i saw a youtube video of a guy using a cheap $20 chain breaker tool from amazon no problem. So, i decided to give it a try since i already bought it. I had zero issues using this tool. I didnt use it to remove the chain since the old one had a clip style master link and was easy to remove. But, the new chain was a rivet master link. So, i used this tool to compress the master link plates together and a digital caliper to measure them so they were the same size as the other links. I then had to use the riveter, spring, guide bolt, and push bolt to flare the rivets on the new master link. I used the caliper to measure the rivet head before and after so i knew how much it flared. Nothing bent. Nothing broke. It made the whole job easy. It worked perfectly with my 525 chain and is compatible with other chains. I would buy again and recommend others to buy it as well. ... show more

  • Do not buy.
Inferior metal, not useful as a breaker or riveter. I bust every single attachment just breaking one chain, adjusting the second, and riveting the new one. It couldn't even push the pin out of the link, I had to pry the last section off.

  • Good quality for the money
Worked perfectly on my 2004 Honda 919 and almost 100 bucks cheaper than a Motion Pro tool. For something I only use once every few years, it's great!

  • Does the Job But Could Be More Durable
This 20-piece chain tool kit gets the job done and includes everything you need for chain work on motorcycles and ATVs. The C-frame design and variety of pins are convenient for different chain sizes. However, the durability could be better. Some components bend more easily than expected under normal use, and I ended up breaking a piece during a standard chain installation. It's hard to say if it was user error or the tool's limitations, but I expected a bit more strength from the materials given the price point. One other downside: the instructions are minimal or missing entirely. If you're already familiar with chain tools you'll be fine, but first-timers might struggle figuring out which pins to use for which chains without looking up tutorials online. For occasional home use, it's functional and a decent value. If you're doing frequent chain work or dealing with really tight chains, you might want to invest in something heavier duty. Still a solid 4/5 for the price and what's included in the kit. ... show more

Worked perfectly but read the instructions

  • You get what you pay for, and that’s okay
I used this tool to replace a 520 motorcycle chain. The instructions were a little unclear and the tool was cheap cast iron, but that’s not a dealbreaker for this price. I had no problem removing a clip style master link. However, when I went to install the master link of the new chain, the press tool was not the right size for the chain and one pin got stuck. I decided to even it out as best I could for now, and finished forming the rivet type heads. I later came back to remove and replace the rivet type master link, and the tool broke while trying to remove the rivet pin. I had to use my friend’s Motion Pro chain tool to finish the second job, which worked much better and feels more premium, but it also costs nearly 4 times as much. If you’re going to do one, maybe two chains ever, this might work for you if you’re careful. ... show more

  • Crap don’t buy.
Bent metal. Don’t recommend. Not strong enough to break or rivet a chain. I returned it. The lever handle even bent…
