  • Amazing for the price
Style: with Nozzle Hoses
Background: I was tired of filling up 5 gallon cans of diesel every weekend to fill my tractor, skid, and mini. We had a fuel tank years ago but it was long gone. I ended up getting a 91 gallon transfer tank so I could load it into the bed of my truck when I needed to fill it, and then just fork it off and leave it at the property to fill up the equipment. I searched for a few weeks to find a solution best get the fuel out of the transfer tank. I didn't want to spend the $300 - 1200 on the pump systems I was finding. I also was really hoping to stay away from the push/pull type. Although the arm workouts would be useful... Anyway, I happened upon this Orion Motor Tech Diesel Transfer pump on Amazon, at less than $100. So I decided for that price to give it a shot. Here are a few true thoughts/comments on this pump. - It is surprisingly sturdy, heavy, and seems really well made. This included the hoses that came with. The cheapest feeling parts are the clamps and the screen filter. No big deal there right!? - Everything I needed was pretty much included in the box. I did not mount it or otherwise connect it to my tank. Just sank the intake hose in and fired it up. - It's fast. I filled approximately 15 gallons in my 65hp tractor in about 30 seconds. It may have been longer but I really don't think so. I was so impressed I lost track of keeping track. It's quiet too, if that matters to you. - I used yellow teflon tape on all the threaded connections. I had zero leaks and don't think I would have had leaks even without the tape. Although I still recommend the tape on threads for such applications. - I forgot to take pictures but basically it would have been slightly easier if the pump itself was attached to something. I just laid it on the tire. No problems. But I will mount it and possibly connect the pump directly to the tank as it will be much more convenient that way. Summary: I've only used it one time. I was really impressed with it after this first use tho. It worked flawlessly and quickly. I couldn't believe I was able to achieve my fuel transferring objective for under $100. Good stuff. ... show more

  • Works and is inexpensive
Style: Diesel Pump Only
Works great for the first use. Pros: Perfect fit for my Vevor 20 gal oil drain pan swapped for 1/2 inch home depot fittings changed out. Emptied 5 gallons less than a minute. Cons: It is a little loud sounds as if it’s a loud screeching bearing going out hopefully it’s just the way it sounds lol. But it did what I need it to do first use. Will keep updated after months of continuous use. ... show more

  • Buy with Confidence
Style: with Nozzle Hoses
great product. My oil tank was Emptied so fast I was shocked. Took 20 min or less and over 150 gallons to the replacement tank in our basement. The filter that came with it worked flawlessly.!! Almost no clean up when done. Didn't spill a drop. Worth every penny and Highly recommend !!

  • Use Pipe Thread Compound on Threaded Fittings
Style: with Nozzle Hoses
And throw away the O-rings. That set-up is a bad idea. If you tighten the fittings too much, the O-ring is squeezed out. If you tighten it properly, it's not tight enough and will unscrew easily. No wonder there are complaints about leakage. The barbed hose fitting is pretty flimsy but only one is needed (and included) on the input side. Don't over tighten or it might strip. I used it & it was OK but these are better - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CPNJDRR/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . The fittings on the black output hose are good enough. The pipe thread compound prevents leaks but the fittings have to be tight enough also. I had a slow leak at first on the black hose but little tightening and it stopped. Make sure you use a compound suitable for oil. The pump worked well but I see that the red wire is fraying where it attaches to the clip. The pump was faster then I expected. Both hoses are excellent. The input hose is wire reinforced and is made of clear plastic. That was useful so I could see if I was sucking up sludge. I was pumping out of a 44" deep tank through a 2" hole. I needed the hose to be straight so I wired on a 4' length of angle aluminum. I didn't use the input strainer because I needed to get close to the bottom of the tanks. The output hose is pretty substantial and thus a little stiff but worked well in cold temperatures. I really liked the output nozzle. You can control the flow and the is a lever to lock it open. I put a bungee cord on the hook on top of the nozzle to hold it in the tank I was filling. Once I has it all set up, it worked well. I moved it around and used it at several locations and had no new leaks. I'm really glad I bought the kit with the hoses & nozzle. ... show more

  • Excellent fuel transfer pump!
Style: Diesel Pump Only
Working great so far! Works similar to a gear style pump so it can draw from a pretty decent height when empty. I didn't time it, but I'd estimate that it emptied 5 gal of diesel fuel in about 15 seconds. I run mine on a small 2 ah Dewalt power tool battery with a cheap 12v step down adapter. Its more than enough to power it long enough to fill a 20 gal tank without having to lug around a heavy 12v lead acid battery, and I already have several of the Dewalts for my power tools. They have the same adapters for Milwaukee too. ... show more
