After a lot of vet, industry, customer reviews we opted to try this after our last brand ceased production. This is a great high protein source kibble, with everything their daily nutritional needs require and then some.     • From puppy to adult to senior and beyond!

I found this brand when I first got my 4 legged son. I wanted the best food I could find because I believe you are what you eat. It is full of nutrition and fresh and without any fillers - we're talking quality and since he's the world to me, I just wanted to give him the best, despite the horrendous price! - should I take a start off for the price? - 1/2 a star perhaps, but the product is excellent. SO, most important point, I have been giving him this food since puppy and he's now 9 years old - that's right, I never moved him from this food, INSTEAD, I just started giving him less once he reached adult status. I mean, why change the food to an adult formula, when the adult formula all it is, is just a watered down version of this food? I don't care what they say about puppy food vs adult food, I've read enough about to come to a personal conclusion that it's a way to make more money. I just give him less of puppy food, yet a GSD that is 9 years old and 100lb is no joke, yet he's all lean and muscle! Also, he still loves it, eats it every day as excited as the first day he tried it. Has perfect, super shiny hair and a wet nose all the time, what else could one want?! ... show more

Our dog seems to enjoy this food; for the price, he should! The crunchies aren’t too hard to chew, and he seems to like the flavor. He’s a smooth toy fox terrier, so he gets 1/3 a cup in the morning and 1/3 cup in the evening. None goes to waste, so we will continue to buy until he turns his nose up at it. ... show more

We started using Orijen Senior when my dog - a wire fox terrier - turned ten years old. He is 15 now and still doing great. We feed him this for breakfast everyday, and cook for his dinner. While this dog food is expensive, it is worth every penny. As you can tell from the photo, even with my dog's advanced age his fur still has vibrant colors. I previously had two other wire fox terriers years ago, was not feeding them Orijen (didn't even know about it at the time), and by the time they reached about 12 years old, they had lost all their colors and turned completely white/grey. You will quickly notice the high quality whenever you open the bag, the food is still quite moist and fresh. We did in the past give him other Orijen food, but have stuck with the senior since it seems to really help him maintain a healthy digestive system. If you have an older dog, I implore you to feed them this excellent dog food! ... show more

    • Great Food BUT...

I realize all dogs are different but I can't feed this as a primary meal to my four dogs. However, it's outstanding when used as a supplement only for my dogs. I am unable to feed it to my three German Shepherds and Chihuahua as their primary meals because fed in full meal amounts it causes all four to have extreme anal gland (AG) issues, i.e., to develop dark brown circles around their anuses and foul secretions from their AGs. I'm talking all four of my dogs developed the exact same issues within two weeks of feeding this food as their primary meals. When I stopped, all four dog's AG issues cleared completely up withing a week and a half. I'm a Dog Behaviorist, Trainer & Canine Nutritionist, so I'm very careful and meticulous about identifying what's good and not good to feed my canine kiddo's, and in what quantities. I have found that "supplementing" my dogs with this food has a wonderful effect on their skin and coats; My Sheps get 1/8 cup of this food on top of their primary food twice per day and my Chihuahua gets 7 kibbles of it on top of his primary food twice per day. No AG problems at all when fed as a supplement as such and noticably improved skin and coats within 6 weeks. Now, as for the smell, phew! Yes, even for a fish lover like me it is way too strong to store indoors! Rather, I pour the bag into airtight containers and store them in the garage refrigerator. Please know I'm not knocking this food as I truly believe using it as a supplement is far superior to using the fish oil supplements they used to receive. So, I give this food 5 stars as a supplement but have to give it only 4 stars as a primary food for my dogs due to the AG issues it clearly causes them when fed as their primary meals. ... show more
