I have 2 cats. Was feeding them a mix of instinct ultimate protein chicken & meow mix chicken. I usually mix 2 brands just in case I can’t get 1 or they run out I know they’ve already been accustomed to eating the other & wont be vomiting getting used to a new food all of a sudden.. well one cat was getting too fat with the meow mix & I’m trying to remove tricalcium phosphate from all my pets foods to protect their kidneys. So I slowly started adding Origen to the instinct dry cat food & maybe transition off instinct completely until I find a healthier replacement. Both of my finicky cats love this food and gobble it up which was a great surprise to me! No litter box or vomiting issues.Litter box is less stinky for whatever reason. # of my 4 cats actually prefer the Orijen over their wet food. It doesn't matter what wet food or what flavor -- i've stopped trying. The Orijen is high quality and they all loo great, so if that's their choice, so be it.

Switching my orange from a different brand due to possible allergies. At the 50/50 mix stage and he picks out the other food and leaves it on his mat, won't touch it when this food is an option! Also, his poop is not as bad smelling! This little bag costs as much as my dog's 11lb bag, but it's definitely worth it! No skin or belly issues here! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. The quality of the cat food that I purchase became of great importance to me after I lost my first cat to a disease that my vet said was triggered by, and worsened by, the cat food I was feeding him (Fancy Feast). So I begin doing research on what cats really need in their diet and the backgrounds and production of various cat foods on the market. Of everything I found, this brand “Orijen” always seemed to make the top five list of healthiest and most nutritious cat foods made with the highest quality ingredients as well as the best sourcing and production practices. Admittedly, there was another brand that was above ‘Orijen’ in these categories that I wanted to give my cats...but cats are picky, and they did not care for that brand too much...so I went to my second choice, which was ‘Orijen’. Ever since trying Orijen’s ‘Cat & Kitten’, we have never found another “go-to” food for the cats. They truly love this stuff. And as you can see in the video, I once got a bag home and (even though they had eaten that morning) they were more than happy to tear the bag open before I could even get to it. (usually I keep the cat food stored away in a cupboard). If you’re looking for a fragrant, dry food to attract your cats’ attention, this is definitely a go-to. Even with my human nose, as soon as I open the bag I can smell a powerful scent of cat food; it’s not an unpleasant smell, but it is certainly strong enough that a cat will know that the food is there. As my cats’ responsible human, I am happy with this food because it is responsibly sourced with cat’s health and humane practices in mind. More specifically, it is made of 85% animal ingredients including free-run chicken/turkey, wild-caught herring/flounder/sardines, and cage-free eggs; and 2/3 of their animal ingredients are “fresh or raw”. I am also encouraged by the fact that the first 16 ingredients listed on the bag are all whole animal sources; no fillers, supplements, fruits, veggies, or mysterious compounds. Additionally, taurine, which you must be wary of in cat food since it can be found in high quantities (particularly in low quality, high protein) cat food and cause health disorders in your pet, is found as a respectably small percentage of this food. I only wish that Orijen made wet cat food, since making sure cats get enough water is a very important thing. I did try to put some water on their dry food, but they didn’t like that. My answer to that was to buy a motion sensitive water dispenser, and buy them canned cat food on occasion from another respectable brand. With regard to price, yes it is rather expensive for a cat food. And getting used to it did take some time. However, after being told that I lost my first cat because of the low quality of the cat food I was feeding him (and I had no idea!), the peace of mind I get now from knowing that I am feeding my cats a properly nutritious food is priceless. Overall I am very happy with the brand and this flavor, and as you can see in the video and the picture of the damage done to the bag before I could open it and the cats are also very happy with it. I bought this after comparing most major brands. Kitty immediately liked it. I only feed a small pinch of dry food a day as snacks and need something higher quality. The bag however is not resealable which I find odd but I had containers for these anyways, otherwise it will be a problem.
