I’m on day 8 and only now began sort of chipping at the edges, but it’s because I didn’t create a proper seal. I put on this base coat last Monday. Then the following Wednesday I layered on a French tip of Revlon Ultra HD Snap in white + Walmart’s cheap “ICE” Polish in a milky sheer pink + Sally Hansen Top Coat Double Duty. That turned out okay. Then the following Friday I layered this on again and with Essie’s Gel Couture top coat. Today is Friday, day 8, I do lots of dishes and is still looking fairly decent. My nails are starting to grow out neatly from under the nail beds. I highly highly recommend. I think the game changer is the combo of OPI base bottle + Essie’s Gel Couture top coat.     • Base Coat vs Strengthener
Color: Natural Nail Strengthener
The OPI Natural Nail Base Coat works really well in conjunction with their Nail Lacquer and Top Coat. It applies and dries quickly, leaving behind a little tackiness to help polish adhere, and lacquer applies smoothly on top. It also helps prevent high pigment formulas from staining the natural nail. The Natural Nail Strengthener works well as a strengthener, but in my experience it is NOT a good alternative to the Base Coat as the marketing claims; if you need a strengthener and a base coat, layer both products. Using the Strengthener alone as a base coat led to chips within 12hrs, while the traditional Base Coat gave me a solid week without any chips. I would give the Base Coat a 5/5 and the Strengthener a 3/5 (4/5 as a strengthener although their Nail Envy is better, but at best a 2/5 as a base coat). If it weren't advertised as a base coat alternative it would rate higher, but it simply doesn't work very well as a multi-function product the way the marketing claims it does. ... show more
