Bottom line: A thick, comfortable kitchen mat that should fit most décors. Pros: • Thick cushioning • Neutral color • Large Cons: • Dirt can accumulate underneath • A little plasticky • A little more expensive than competitors The mat is a very welcome addition to just about any kitchen due to its cushioning and aesthetic. It has a neutal color, meaning it should fit in most decors. It does have a design, which may clash, due to other perhaps competing designs in a particular décor. Thus, a solid color may be preferred. The cushioning is very thick, to its credit. It makes meal preparation and kitchen cleaning much easier due to less stress on the body, particularly feet and spine. The increased height due to the cushioning takes a little to get used to, but it’s generally pleasant. Moreover, the cushioning seems durable. While it won’t be as durable as an actual rubber mat, it’s a softer material reminiscent of memory foam. That said, it’s probably not durable enough for an industrial or commercial environment, like a restaurant, where a rubberized, firmer material may last longer. The mat is meant for periodic home use, where it seems suitable for the task. It appears to be impermeable, meaning water or liquid won’t accumulate into it like a sponge, to it’s credit. Thus, it shouldn’t get moldy even though it might get dirty. Of note, it’s possible for dirt to accumulate underneath. Relatedly, the underside has a somewhat “sticky” surface (to its credit; for it to stay in place), such that it may attract dirt. Consequently, the underside should be examined periodically for cleaning, lest an object get “stuck,” perhaps scratching, gouging, or damaging the floor. At USD $34.99, it’s a little more expensive than competitors. However, it seems well made and durable, which may tend to make it worth the price. Thus, the mat is recommended. thank god for mats like this... I'm a procrastinator to the core... major character flaw yes I know, and I'm working on it.. but in the interim dishes tend to pile up in my sink, and when I finally force myself to do them... I'm there at the sink for a good while. having this mat and and other like it throughout the kitchen helps relieve the strain and pressure put on my.knees and ankles thanks to the cushion and stability the mat provides. I've had a few of these types of mats and while they're all similar a few of them are very clearly superior, this being one of them. durability is quite important to.me especially given how expensive everything seems to be getting nowadays... if I can buy something that holds up I will do that everytime, even if that means that I spend a few more dollars in doing so.the asking price for this mat at the.time.of this review is just under $40 @ $39.99 which I think is certainly fair. The past 2 mats I'd purchased before ordering this one lasted less than 2 months. Both were nearly the same price, approximate size, and looked of decent quality. Unbeknownst to myself, I have 2 live in quality control specialists, who like like to claw any thing but thir actual scratch pads (my 2 cats)try as they may they have yet to knick this mat, unlike others where in as little as a few days small pieces of them were scattered about the kitchen. so in light of that, this Matt seems durable and well made, and I expect that it will last quite a while. it gives good cushion while also providing stability and I'd definitely recommend it. great product! ... show more

I am old and my hips and knees (as the result of former injuries) are even older. Many a night's sleep I have lost to pain. So I ordered these mats hoping to get some relief. The smaller one I put in my kitchen in front of my sink (although I suspect that in the future it may spend some time in front of the stove). My kitchen floor consists of random pieces of granite in concrete. Not a lot of softness there. The larger one is in my greenhouse (which has a floor of concrete pavers) where I spend many hours starting seeds, potting plants, and keeping track of my other gardening chores. I am typically on my feet for four or five hours in the greenhouse before I come in and start my kitchen chores. Rarely have my feet, knees and hips been as happy as since I got these mats. The mats are thick and cushiony. When my feet sink into the mats they don't feel the hard floors underneath, just more bouncy softness. After two days on the mats, last night I slept with substantially no pain. What a blessing! My brown mat looks fine on my many-colored floor. It functions well also. I especially like that the thick mats have sloped sides so that I am not likely to trip or stumble on them, and the surface is not so smooth that I am likely to slip. Overall I am quite pleased and recommend these mats, especially to anyone who has foot, knee or hip problems. ... show more
