I never really understood why people insisted on having a cushioned mat in the kitchen by the sink...but that was because we really don't cook, and we wash most everything in the dishwasher. We decided to order one of these now, however, because we recently remodeled our kitchen so we are cooking more and spending more time in there. As soon as I put it down and stood on it, the first thing I said was "WOW...now I get it...now I know why a cushioned mat is needed!" This mat is great...it's SUPER cushiony so you can stand on it comfortably for a while when you are food prepping, cooking, rinsing dishes, you name it. I move it to our kitchen island while doing food prep and I love how much more comfortable it is to stand for a while when getting things ready! It's a great size where it can go in front of the stove, sink, island or anywhere else...it's SUPER easy to clean...it's got excellent padding, and the grey color matches our kitchen well so it looks like a nice, upscale accent...much better than the little slipping rug we had there which never stayed in place. The bottom grips to the floor very nicely and the beveled edges gives some safety and stability so you won't trip on it. Besides functionality and comfort, it seems to be made very well, so I suspect it will last us for a long, long time. I certainly hope so, because we really love it! Overall, this mat is so, SO good...it's worth every penny of the price and then some. I highly recommend it!!

I'm fairly suspicious of foam products because I have run into multiple products, often priced kind of high and pretending to be "luxury," and found them to be completely lackluster, thin, not resistant to pressure so even if it looks thick the foam offers zero resistance. This is maybe one of two foam items (and I am including foam toppers, foam pillows, foam flipflops, and anti-fatigue kitchen mats) where the product not only met my lowered-by-experience expectations but also exceeded them. This may is very thick. Standing on it I don't sink to the ground and feel like I'm standing on nothing. It is actually tall enough that on the first day I managed to lightly trip on the angled edge (my fault.) standing on this to do dishes is great, though I think I'll move it over to the oven for when I am cooking at the stovetop for long periods of time. I suppose it would be nice if it was longer, and/or they sold it in a two pack (understandably I would expect it to be more expensive) so that you can have one for the sink and one for the oven. It is very comfortable, and unusually for a foam item, I think $42 is an okay price because I have gotten anti-fatigue mats for around the same price and they offered zero comforting support. BEST mat I have ever had. I am an older woman who walks with a cane and will be having knee replacements this Spring. I have a very hard time standing up for more than 10-15 minutes in one spot. (I also have a hard time sitting for more than the same amount of time) Non-slip shoes, rugs, mats are a major must for me. This mat, is superb. I have lost 3" off my height due to spinal issues and the first thing I noticed is that I feel taller on it..haha. But that shows me that while the mat is a cushion, it is firm enough that you do not sink into it. It is solid, yet feels so good to stand on, just the right balance of cushion and strength. The design actually helps it be non-slip. It is also very easy to sweep over and to wipe clean. Very sturdy, and the beveled edges make sure there is no tripping when stepping onto it. I moved the half moon cushion I had in front of my kitchen sink, and put this mat there. The half moon mat cost about the same and was almost as thick, but I can feel a wonderful difference. now I want more. The only con I can say about it is that there is not a wider variety of colors. This brown is fine in my kitchen, and I am all about comfort and functionality at this point so even if it were pink with purple polka dots, I'd still want it. I would say this is the perfect gift. Everyone has a place where they have to stand for awhile and this mat would highly improve those places. It's kind of the gift that you may not have known you wanted so much. Highly recommend.
