I have two toy poodles that are 13 years old. For years, we fed them the same kibble. On a recent vet visit, our vet noticed that one of the poodles had swollen paws. We thought it was because she kept licking them, which it could’ve been, but the vet said it was because she was all allergic to probably chicken and or beef. It was difficult to find kibble that didn’t contain chicken, turkey or beef. I’ve been feeding them venison that we had in our freezer until I could find something commercial that was appropriate. I found it! This kibble has venison and fish, which is what the doctor ordered. It was very fresh and provides the nutrition that my dogs need. The kibble is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Since my dogs are elderly, I add warm water and it makes a nice gravy and makes the kibble softer. It’s a great value for the money. My Rock (pitbull) can easily lose weight and protein diet is suited for this breed muscles. I knew I made the right choice upon opening up the package from the smell of the ingredients and the condition - the glow and color of the keebles speak for the quality. However, my cat and visitor cats seem to prefer this venison recipe. So now, venison for everyone. To be clear, this only 30% of their actual diet. I have several rescue dogs that I spoiled very much. I cooked turkey and chicken for them, but needed a kibble, since it get very expensive to feed just the former. I tried all expensive brands, Orijen and several Sundays, and others. They like Sundays but I didn't like the subscription part. Then, I ordered Carna4, they didn't like the chicken that much but ate it mix with their turkey, chicken and scramble eggs that I cook. They didn't eat it by itself. I wanted to keep ordering Carna4 but it is impossible to find the 22lb bag. And there's no way to order on their website. Also, it says to check on a store near by. No stores near by sell it here in Houston, TX. I heard about Open Farm kibble from a dog nutritionist on Youtube. I decided to give it a try. To my surprise, my dog ate the kibble by itself!!!! I started transitioning yesterday and they didn't get sick. I ordered the Venison, but I also want to try the Senior one to feed the old pups. I got the small bag from Amazon and the kibble is small just like my pups like it. I ordered the 22 lb bag directly from the company and it will arrive today. Super fast shipping! I have the least picky eater. He loves the beef but really does not love the venison. Very disappointing. Well go back to the beef and hopefully that will go over better. Plus the beef is a lesser price point.
