It is very thin and light when paddling, but inflates instantaneously when you hit the water. How do I know that? I got to see it in action when my husband and I accidentally flipped our canoe. This PFD is very comfortable and quite lightweight. It’s easy to paddle my kayak with it on and it’s not bulky or hot at all. And now, as of two days ago, I know it works! I upended my kayak in some swift water and the jacket immediately deployed. It was very effective in almost shooting me up to the surface, then I was able to float on my back with the headrest supporting me until I could swim out of the rapids. this pfd is the perfect size of you have to wear it for extended period of time. It's so small and comfortable, that you forget it's even on you, which for me is great.

This is a nice nice jacket and is much better than the bulky were using previously. The price seemed a bit high but overall I’m very happy with the purchase. It seems like a nice quality. I like the color and it’s very lightweight and comfortable to wear all day..

Great life vest. Super light and comfy in the out kayaks. It works as advertised. The wife accidentally tossed hers in the water and it automatically expanded as it should. Refill kits are easy to replace as well.

Wife fell in the lake and the jacket inflated; I had to set the automatic. To make this jacket manual, there is a yellow cap in a small pocket on the inside of the jacket.. This cap goes over the auto inflator (the thing with a green red indicator). It keeps the auto inflator dry, thus making it manual. ... show more

Out on the lake a 30mph wind gusts knocked my kayak over. The pfd immediately deployed and kept me buoyant. Flipped the kayak and swam to shore. There are step by step directions on how to fold and replace the co2 cartridge. I'd buy again.
