I really love trying different sorts of honey from all over but somehow had skipped over buckwheat. While I didn't buy it for the claimed health benefits, it's a nice bonus for a tasty honey. I didn't quite know what to make of it when I first tasted it. It has a very deep flavor that is unlike any other honey I have had. After trying it in different applications the flavor has really grown on me. It's so good and soothing in warm milk and I was skeptical but it also works on vanilla ice-cream. Delicious !

We practically stop using sugar, mostly honey. This one is sooo good. My uncle had a bee hives. I remember those taste and smell from childhood. Maybe little bit strong for someone taste. But we love it.

What I like about it, and why I plan to buy it again: (1) It is liquid, with no sign of crystallization at the bottom of the jar. (2) It has a taste of its own: some honey I have tried were just sugary, without any particular taste. Those I found to have a taste of their own were: coriander honey (if you can get it -- try Yummy Bazaar in New Jersey), linden honey (I buy the Breitsamer brand, widely available, Amazon or your local stores), chestnut honey (check Mira Nova on Amazon; also Giannetti or Rigoni di Asiago, both from Italy), and honeydew honey, aka forest honey (a category that includes pine honey, fir honey, oak honey, beech honey, etc., in addition to "forest honey" which I assume is a blend of honeys from several sources - check what Amazon has to offer). (3) It is definitely far better than the other buckwheat honeys I tried (Sandt, Goshen, etc.) (4) It comes in a glass jar: this may matter if you take your time eating the whole jar. July 11, 2021 - I ordered, and just received another jar. The glass jar came in a cardboard box on which there was a label: "BBD May 13, 2026", which means that it is fresh honey. Now, I know that honey never goes bad, but I happen to like mine liquid, without crystallization, i.e. without the need to fuss over it to bring it back to the liquid state (if possible). I have a few other jars (three on the kitchen counter) that I want to finish first, and then it's going to be chestnut honey and buckwheat honey for me, with a jar of linden honey to sweeten my tea. Don't be afraid, try it! ---- Update, June 17, 2023 It disappeared for a while; then it came back and I immediately ordered one jar: ordered June 10, received June 14, sooner than expected. So, I ordered another on June 14 (should arrive June 21-23). [My excuse: I may have a sore throat, at times. Better be ready; you never know! Besides, it is not too sweet; consider it a "diet food".]

This is the 3rd time I have purchased this product and I absolutely love the honey. Previous purchases were flawless. This was intended as a birthday gift for my brother. It had to be discarded because it was open. However, for me, the taste and quality are worth the additional cost of ordering another for him. Primary purpose for purchasing the raw honey was at the recommendation of our PCP due to leg ulcers that developed after surgery. All over-the-counter products failed to clear them up. With one application of Root's buckwheat raw honey, a noticeable improvement occurred. We followed with 3 more treatments and the ulcers cleared up completely. To our amazement, we decided to try this highest rated anti-oxidant raw honey on some toast, and to our amazement, we loved the flavor. Now, to be honest, the flavor will not be for everyone. It is stronger than most. But, we felt that if it's curing factor could work wonders on the outer legs, it could help with our overall health on the inside too.

I’m not sure what this honey is composed of, but it definitely is not a pure Buckwheat honey. I have tried dozens of real Buckwheat honeys so I know what to look for. This one is way too thin and runny and the taste is odd when compared to other real Buckwheat honey. If this is some kind of a blend then they should advertise as such. Not happy with this purchase.

I actually quite like the flavor, but it also has that overlay of a musty taste. I don't know what that is, I know I have come across it a few times when I've purchased local honeys, so I am assuming that it is not a constant with every "batch" of honey. As long as I'm eating this in/with something the musty taste is not to noticeable. This one is also a bit on the runny side, but that isn't an issue for me. I will probably re-order sometime in the future to see if it has moved away from the musty taste.
