Is exactly what it says. Please anyone reading reviews hear me out, A lot of vegans don't know any better but supplementing EPA & DHA is a must!! I was under the impression I could just eat omegas from food- eating walnuts nuts flax & chia constantly and daily not to mention avocados 100s of calories of extra omega rich fat foods & an occasional alge supplement when affordable (which they aren't especially at higher beneficial doses) and I didn't score very high at all...just slightly over 4 on that % scale. Mind you I had excellent transfat scores because I have been eating like a whole foods plant based vegan for years but I don't care what Mic the vegan say ALA doesn't convert to EPA DHA efficiency enough in the body to be healthy! ... show more

    • Difficult to get enough blood
This is the second kit my wife and I have purchased. We purchased the basic kit first which is identical except for the results that come back. The only reason I am subtracting 1 star is that it is difficult to get enough blood from a single finger stick to fill-in the paper card for the test. I recommend vigorous rubbing of hands under very hot water and massaging of finger, but still required 2 sticks for both my wife and I. The results of this test made us realize that we need to reduce our intake of omega 6 acids as well as increase our omega 3 intake, we did not get this information from the basic test. For this reason, I recommend this test over the basic test, I think it's worth the additional cost. ... show more

My family doesn't eat sea food and I wanted to know if we were deficient in DHA an EPA since they promote good brain, skin, nail, and eye health. My daughter suffers from anxiety attacks and we didn't want her to be on medications with a lot of side effects. I did some research and decided to test her EPA and EPA levels, and the test showed a deficiency in her blood. I also tested my blood and the test showed a deficiency, which I knew I would be because I am a vegan and don't eat sea food or any other animals. I eat enough ALA but my body doesn't convert enough of it to DHA and EPA. This blood test was easy to perform and we got the detailed reports back via email within 10 days. I started taking a algae based DHA and EPA vegan supplement to get me back into a normal range. The price for the test seems a bit high for most people but can you put a price on your health? I highly recommend this product if you don't eat sea food and you are worried about your over all health. ... show more
