I recently purchased the Active Lens Set after trying it with a friend on their iPhone 7, but saw it was compatible with iPhone 8/8Plus. After loving my iPhone 7, and its great camera, I wanted to delve deeper so I just upgraded to 8 Plus, and my wife got the 8. The olloclip fits both models of phone easily, and just like the name says, it makes a nice ‘clip’ sound when it locks in, which is some peace of mind for how secure it is as well as the sound of some fun photos about to be taken! It clips and unclips with ease, same for switching lens configurations, super simple. The set came with a clip for my wife’s 8 and my 8 Plus, so we can even shoot together at the same time! I had the Core Lens set from my 7 which I loved too, and couldn’t get enough, so I bought this set and am loving its capabilities. When not on the phone, the clip attached to a pendant/stand that keeps everything locked together for next time. They truly thought of everything because the pendant/stand hinges and opens up to create the perfect stand for things like time-lapse and getting super still shots as a pseudo-tripod. Since I’m new to the 8 Plus dual camera, I found even more versatility after realizing you can use third party camera apps to use my existing 2x telephoto (on the 8 Plus) and making it a 4x telephoto by simply isolating the telephoto via App. This opens a whole new World and makes the olloclip lenses really show off. You can turn the 2x Telephoto lens around to align to either camera, and when you use the telephoto lens with the telephoto camera, you can see so far, with clarity! Shooting in close proximity with the Telephoto is cool too (I was otherwise shooting outside at buildings from a distance at first) because you can shoot with clarity from a distance, which I’ve found it great for shooting products and portraits and beautiful photos for social media. You get the clarity and detail from a close-up shot but with no phone shadow since you have the natural zoom that the lens brings. Using the same method with the Macro Lens from my Core set (which I would also highly recommend, a variety of fun lenses), you can get twice as close to objects which has the clarity and magnification of basically a microscope! It’s truly impressive and fun to see the world both from a distance and so close. The ultra-wide Lens is impressive in its own right. The sheer amount of information that can be captured by your phone camera while using this lens is amazing. I recently had to shoot a photo of a huge dining room for an ad (I’m a graphic designer) and it was no problem for the ultra-wide. I could see this set being great for on-the-go realtors because it shows off the whole room in one go. My Instagram has definitely gotten some more attention, as my phone photography has been kicked up ten notches since getting my olloclip sets. I couldn’t recommend this product more highly, it is so portable and fun to use. It’s like carrying a huge camera and bag around, but instead fits in your pocket.

I got the ōlloclip Core Lens Set after having their Active Lens Set and finding the Ultra Wide (120° field of view) too wide for my taste and the 2x Tele lens redundant on my iPhone 7 Plus. The Core Lens Set comes with the 155° (field of view) Super Wide, a 15x Macro, and a 180° FoV Fisheye lens. The Super Wide lens is what I felt I would use the most and, possibly, the Macro lens but the Fisheye didn't really get me excited. I recorded my last Video Update (series I do on my YouTube channel) with the Super Wide attached to my iPhone 7 Plus and I like how it looks so I can see using that lens a lot. The Fisheye is very extreme at 180° field of view but kind of cool in an odd, non conventional way. I may use it from time to time when I feel I need that much coverage and the extreme FoV isn't too distracting. To use the Macro, you unscrew the Fisheye attachment to reveal a tiny almost flat lens. At 15x it is a really extreme macro and you have to get VERY close to your subject before it focuses. It is difficult to hold the iPhone steady enough to get sharp macro shots that close, so I've experimented with it by attaching the phone in the MoVo holder for my iPhone on a tripod. The magnification is insane! But even touching the iPhone to release the shutter causes movement, so I find using the 2- or 10-second self-timer feature helps so as not to have to touch the phone as the shutter is released. I can't say enough good things about the customer support I received from ōlloclip! They let me return my Active Lens Set in exchange for the Core Set even though I didn't have the original packaging and they also refunded me the $20 difference without my even ask them to do so! These ōlloclip lenses are high quality lenses, including the two in the Active Lens Set. I returned those not because anything was wrong with them, but because I felt they didn't suit my needs. And, whereas I used to think add-on lenses for one’s smartphone was a silly idea, I've completely changed my mind. I have two excellent Olympus cameras and a nice collection of lenses for them, but I use my iPhone a lot to shoot video and images. Having these three add-on lenses extends my iPhone camera’s usefulness just as the lenses do for my Olympus cameras. So if you, too, use your smartphone a lot, consider getting some clip-on lenses for them. You'll be pleased, I'm sure. But don't skimp. Get quality lenses. ōlloclip is not the only lens maker. There are many, but I am extremely happy with their lenses! I also did this review as one of my YouTube Video Update episodes.

I recently received my olloclip Active lens and I absolutely LOVE it! The lens and picture quality is so much better than I expected and its awesome to have telephoto and ultra-wide lens options for my new iPhone 7 Plus! The system itself is super easy to use. It goes right on the top of the phone and snaps instantly into place. The fit is great and holds very securely on the front and rear cameras, so I'm not worried about it falling off! No clue why there are complaints below regarding screen protectors? I have a glass screen protector on my phone and have had no issues. It fits right over the top of the screen protector when putting it on from the top down. I did watch the video on olloclip’s YouTube that showed me how to put the lens on. And I have been gentle too... because it’s glass. Amazon won't let me share the YouTube link, sorry! I discovered two amazing features about the lens too!! 1.) With my iPhone 7 Plus, if you flip the lens around in the mount, it lines up perfectly with the telephoto camera. So now I can put a telephoto on my telephoto/dual camera for double the zoom! The shots below were taken on my recent trip to San Francisco! 1st shot is without any lens, second with the olloclip 2 x tele on the wide angle camera, then I flipped it around and shot through the telephoto lens with the olloclip 2x on top. (I used the used the Pro Camera App to isolate the camera) 2.) The lens comes with what olloclip calls a wearable pendant to hold the lens when you’re not using it. But, the pendant also works as a tripod too!! I’ve been using it for time-lapse photos and it’s working perfect. I really am so happy with my new olloclip!!
