    • Strange Concept But Works Well
I wish that I could give a half-star because this product merits a solid 4.5. I'm happily willing to try any Olay product. This facial cleanser has a lot going for it. First, it's fragrance-free, which I strongly prefer. Second, the instructions say that it is okay to use in the eye area. Most facial cleansers irritate my extremely sensitive eyes, so that is super important to me. Third, it works great for me. The cleanser is very mild. My face feels clean and hydrated. Even my eyes feel wonderful after using it. But ... this balm has a greasy, waxy consistency. The jar I received opened with no resistance, which makes me nervous. There was a soft plastic top with a pull tab over the balm. Still, when I removed it, I saw that the contents had shifted to one side, leaving an empty well on the other side. My best guess is that this is attributable to the softness of the balm, rather than any tampering. I like this product a lot but think that the manufacturer needs to enhance the solidity of the product (which seems like it could melt if exposed to heat in transit) and improve the packaging to ensure sanitation. ... show more

    • Makeup remover melts with the warmth of the skin
This balm is very thick. It is creamy and oily feeling all at the same time. Also fairly dense when scooping it out of the tub. It rubs onto the skin easily. The concoction breaks down my foundation and removes it easily. I find it better to wipe away the excess versus just rinsing. This balm removes my makeup quickly and easily. It’s delicate on my skin and leaves it feeling hydrated and clean. There is no oiliness left over after my skin has dried. It does work well as long as you use enough product and then wipe clean with a warm wash cloth. ... show more

    • Does a good job removing makeup, love fragrance -free!
First let me just say that I love Olay products as I've been using them for decades! I use the moisturizer every day. Since I'm told my skin (older, mature) looks good, I'm reluctant to use anything else. So I was happy to find this makeup remover. But that said, it is a very different product for me. It does a good job of removing makeup, it feels gentle & moisturizing. But I do feel like washing it off with a cleanser afterwards as it does feel like it leaves a film. So I am doing a double cleanse. I have sensitive skin so I'm not sure how that will go long term... but I will definitely keep using it to see. I love that it is truly fragrance -free. Many products claim to be, but still have a scent. This has none. I don't like using my hands to apply it as I don't think it's sanitary to keep dipping in the jar, so I'm using a disposable spatula. Still on the fence about this product but time will tell if it will be added to my regular skin care routine. I'm pretty sure it will be. ... show more

Wow! this really lathers and removes the most stubborn makeup I have. It leaves a fresh feel that isn't greasy at all. Very easy to use and such a great alternative to makeup wipes. I feel like I'm wasting less using this

Olay Gentle Cleansing Balm Makeup Remover works fine on regular make up but I had to go back to my regular makeup remover to take off my waterproof mascara and eyeliner. It was good at cleaning off the other makeup and didn't leave my skin dry or greasy (even though it feels that way at first) once I rinsed it off which I liked. It seems thick in the jar but it sort of melts as you rub it in. It's fragrance free which some people need (I'm not one of them). If you don't use waterproof makeup and don't like cleansers that leave your skin dry, you might like it. ... show more

I have recently started using cleaning balms and have been looking for one that’s gentle on my skin when it starts acting up. My mother and mother in law love Olay and suggested that I give Olay’s Gentle Cleansing Balm a try. I used it and love the way that it feels, it melts into my skin, isn’t greasy and does a great job of removing my makeup. In addition to that it’s gentle on my skin and I love that it has no scent because that often irritates my skin even more. The price is not bad either. This cleansing balm runs 5.29 an ounce while my daily cleansing balm runs 9.46 an ounce. While this cleansing balm does work well, I am a little disappointed because there is less in the container than it appears. If you look closely at the jar you can see that the interior container is rounded on the bottom. I don’t like feeling like someone is trying to pull one over on me and is exactly what the packaging makes it feel like. Overall this is a very good cleansing balm at a great price. I've tried similar more expensive version of this product in the past. This works just as well as those, but being fragrance free is nice. I think most people will want to use this as the first step in their double cleanse. It rinses off fairly well but I find it leaves a film on my eyes. Like it gets in my actual eyes despite them being closed the whole time. It isn't painful at all, and does clear away after a few minutes, but it's extremely disconcerting. I've read previously some people have this happen with the cleansing balms. Apparently, I'm just one of them. I also don't know how long this will last as you need a decent scoop to cover the whole face. I did like that it didn't dry my skin and my eye makeup was completely gone. While I probably wouldn't order again, I certainly can see this being fabulous for many others. ... show more
