I was in need of a chain since the person I live with is forgetful of latching the gate, so my dog kept getting out of the yard. Getting this has helped with him remembering to make sure that the gate is secure. We've also had people prowling the streets at night, stealing, so we figured an added security precaution wouldn't hurt. After about a month in the PNW rain, I can say that it hasn't weathered, which is great. The material is strong, and the length is perfect for wrapping around the two gate poles to close it off.     • I'd go with a Pewag chain instead
Considering how thin in diameter and short in length, I think you're better off buying a Pewag or Abus chain for the money. This chain has the right idea that square links are harder to cut with bolt cutters, but any good quality, large bolt cutter will cut this. You won't even need a hydraulic cutter. Like another reviewer stated, nothing stops the angle grinder (or die cutter and torch). So you're really only buying a deterrance by presenting a certain level of time and effort for the thief. If you have space/weight needs to run a small chain, this could work for you. But if you're looking for strong security, go with a bigger hardened chain. I will say that this chain is better than your local hardware store bulk chain as they are softer than this one. Don't let the bulk of a hardware chain fool you, they're designed for lifting, not cut resistance. ... show more

Solid and robust are what I think when I use this chain. It pairs well with the heavy dual lug OKG lock, and so far I haven’t seen any issues using this setup with my bike
