  • Absolutely terrific. Love this extruder, a great improvement!
Absolutely Terrific. Love this extruder, a great improvement. I did do one mod regarding CR Touch placement though. It was necessary on my model printer at least. Mine is an Ender 3 V2. The stock location for the BL Toch / CR Touch was working fine for homing the printer, but I couldn't perform the bed leveling option. I forgot to take a before picture, but essentially the stock location is far enough forward that the sensor was off the build plate. At least the firmware was smart enough to know that and it just aborted the leveling process. So, I saw a few other options basically replacing the back mount plate, but I figured that was unnecessary. Instead, I just wanted to tuck it closer to the X gantry and I also raised it up roughly 3mm. Before raising it, I had to set the Z offset to -3.04. After the raised part my new offset is just -.34. So even though I raised the model, by design, maybe I lost .3 due to other printing tolerances. I'm still happy though. I designed the bracket photo'd myself. I'll probably upload it to Thingiverse in the next day or two. ... show more

  • Great upgrade for an Ender 3 Pro
I picked up this Ender Sprite Pro kit as an upgrade for my Ender 3 Pro, with a 4.2.7 board and BL Touch. The package came new, and unopened, and everything needed to perform the upgrade was included: Direct Drive/Hot-end Assembly, X-Gantry Carriage, Ribbon Cable, Screws & Extra nozzle. Installation was straightforward, and the included directions were clear and easy to understand. If someone is comfortable around the printer's parts/cabling, they should be able to get this installed, setup and printing in about a 30-45mins (a bit longer with ABL). While this kit does not officially support adding a BL-Touch/CR-Touch, I was able to get mine working with minimal modification, using my existing BL-Touch wire. The main issue is that, by default, the Marlin ABL mesh needs the full 235mm of X-Axis travel to check the right side of the bed... however the Sprite's carriage nut bumps into the right-side bracket at 234mm. There are a few options to address this: 1. Update Firmware to change the Max X distance. 2: Use a shorter bolt/nut on the carriage. 3: Move the X-Axis stop switch over by 1.5mm, to offset the travel to the left a bit, while retaining a full 235mm of travel. Since I already had the printer back together, and was too lazy to crack into the firmware source, I chose option #3. I was able to use a needle file to elongate the screw holes on the X-stop switch to accomplish this. (See attached photos) One thing that would be nice to have been included in this kit is a short cable to connect the BL-Touch to the Sprite's break-out board. This would clean things up and allow you to run everything through the ribbon cable. I will likely pick up a connector kit to make my own short cable (molex picoblade 1.25 5-pin connector... JST-SH 1.25 may be compatible too). You may be able to find a short cable online; ~7cm would be plenty. As is recommended with any hot-end changes (including nozzle swaps), a PID Tuning is an important step that is now. I was able to print fine without doing this, but temps were bouncing around by 2-3degs consistently. After running a PID tune, temps stayed steady. A PID Tune can be done in about 10mins with either Pronterface or the OctoPrint terminal. I was able to set the extruder e-steps via the printer's screen (Control->Motion->Steps/mm->ESteps. 424.9 steps). For the ABL X/Y/Z offsets, I was able to set these via a gcode file on the SD Card. The gcode lines for my BLTouch ended up being: M851 X-30.5 Y-40 Z-4.64; define X/Y/Z offsets M500; save to EEPROM Once everything was setup, printing was flawless with my existing slicer profiles; the only change being retraction settings for the direct drive (For PLA, I went with 0.8mm @ 35mm/s). After validating things were working well with PLA, I jumped over to TPU, which I had never tried with the Bowden setup. After a few test prints to tune temp/retraction/flow-rate, TPU was printing cleaner than I expected. (See clean layers and minimum stinging on attached Darth Maul print in Red Overture TPU). Overall I would recommend this to anyone wanting an all-inclusive upgrade for their Ender/Creality printer, at a reasonable price. There are some higher-end options from E3D/etc... but you will end up spending quite a bit more, along with having to piece together everything needed to get them installed (Mounts/fans/ducts/etc). As of right now, the only complaint I have is that the placement of part-cooling fan is right in front of the nozzle, making it hard to get a good view of the first layer. I will likely print a different mount to move it over to right side to provide a better view. ... show more

  • Looked good
Looks great and makes switching heads out a breeze. The one I ordered died to a blob forming the first time I let the printer run while I was at work. However, for all prints that ran previously, it preformed very well.

  • Great Kit. Easy Installation
Installed this on a Voxelab Aquila, have printed for over 500 hours so far and the results have been great. Printed PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, PC, and Nylon successfully. Though not every aspect of this unit was peaches and cream. Initially when I opened the box the Air Duct was cracked and needed to be replaced. Things happen in the mail so I won't blame the company but it was still an annoyance. The screw that holds the thermistor in place was also way to close to the exposed portion of the Heating cartridge wires. Simply loosening the cartridge and rotating it 90 degrees took care of that, but it's something you should look out for. The daughter board at the back of the extruder is a nice addition but the socket for the bl touch is non standard. Some people I know have received the correct bl touch cable with their Sprite kits, but I did not. I have an installation video on my YouTube channel : PrintsLeo3D if you're interested on a walkthrough. It also has a link to the air duct model and the proper bl touch cable. Overall if you are looking to go direct drive this is not a bad option, it was relatively painless installing it, it can print high temperature filaments, and it's lightweight. ... show more

  • Best extruder/hotend I've ever used.
So i ordered this outta frustration with my heavily modified ender 3 v2. I had installed a pheatus dragonfly (which is a great hotend) a year ago and have had 2 issues from filament oozing and thermistor going bad( not pheatus fault as I had supply my own). Tired of bowden I had seen the sprite extruder and heard decent things about it. Once I realized it was a direct drop in and can hit 300° I was sold. Super easy to install except I had to switch back to v wheels and remove x linear rail which was a bummer but I have a aluminum mount coming soon. Let me tell you what, I've literally put every type of filament I own through this thing. Basic list would include pla,petg,abs,cf-abs,pc,cf-pc,pa6,pa6-cf from 3 different brands, gf-pa6, lw pla ect. I've yet to have a jam, clog, or extrusion issues . I've had one single hiccup since I bought this weeks ago. The hot end came loose and eventually came off mid print. Here is the crazy part of it, I was printing with polymaker pa6-cf and the extruder was so powerful it actually tightly coiled it within the small space. Wish I had saved it for a photo. I love this thing so much I'm currently considering designing a bracket so I can use one on my voron trident build. I am ordering another to run on my ender 3 pro as well. I really can't say enough good things about this setup so far. I'm tell you I installed the sonic pad at rhe same time and I print at around 90mms with 2,500 acceleration. I just hit 300hrs of print time on this setup and still running like day one. Creality nailed it ... show more
