My Creality k1 has been working flawlessly for months, and all of a sudden not one print would come out correct. The biggest problem was my printer was skipping groups of layers throughout the print, most noticeably on the first few layers. I first replaced the hot end thinking it may have been that. That didn't solve the problem. I then remembered that creality has had ALOT of problems with their hotends and extruders in their early models of the k1, so decided to try this. Just holding the two in both hands i could tell it was going to solve the problem, and it did! My printer is back up and ripping at full speed without any problems. If you're having layer problems and find out you have an older version of the extruder i would put money on this solving the problem. ... show more

The K1 is a great printer but I was having issues with underextrusion that were obvious on the top layer. From what I can tell, Creality has made several iterations of the extruder design, all seem to be improving on the last. If you have an extruder with the black collet, this is an upgrade to that. It seems extremely well machined and made. It's continued to push filament, through a small leak in the hotend (also why THAT replacement will receive a 3 star) for 2 weeks. The fact that I had to buy this at all is why I'm rating it poorly. The fact you guys needed to send out THOUSANDS of extruders with numerous problems, varying from 1. The gears not actually being close enough to each other to grip filament. 2. The extruder locks coming undone by itself, often midprint, printing a clip to hold it in the lock position mostly fixed this... I had a third, but man. The original extruder -AND HOTEND- just kinda suck, and the fact they've needed numerous revisions to make a remotely decent one, and could only do so after using their customers as beta testers, is just sad. Not like they've been in the business for a decade or anything. ... show more

It's always good to have spare parts. These are the latest extruder models for the K1 and K1 Max series. And they work as expected. It's arguably better to buy these than just the extruder. Since you get an extra stepper motor.
