    • Bearings feel stiff out of the box, but (so far) these wheels have done the job

EARLY IMPRESSIONS: I've purchased rollerblade-style office chair wheels/casters in the past from various companies (including the ones sold by "The Office Oasis" which seem to be ubiquitous) and these had the stiffest bearings of any of any set I've ever purchased out of the box. That's not necessarily a bad thing, as bearings can be tuned to be more or less free-spinning based on their intended use case, but I was surprised just how quickly these wheels stopped spinning when I spun them by hand with absolutely no load on them. Most sets of office chair-specific wheels I've purchased would spin 4-5 seconds under no load (when spinning by hand), while I've owned rollerblades that had wheels that'd spin for almost a full minute before they finally stopped. Whether or not this distinction actually matters in this use case, I suppose I won't know until 6-12 months from now when I know whether or not the things have held up under the daily rigors of 6-8 hours of ~250 pounds of load (~50 from the chair, ~200 from the person sitting in it). All that said, I don't feel any "chunkiness" or undue resistance in the bearing when the wheels *are* under load, and the pivot feels excellent. I can detect absolutely zero "slop" (or "wiggle") in the pivot (load or no load) nor the wheel-bearing interface (where the wheels and bearing actually meet). They certainly *feel* well-built. Really would've liked to have seen a reputable name brand stamped on bearings for sure though. CONCLUSION: These things do the job just fine. Given that there are competitors right here on Amazon selling sets of the same type of wheels (also designed for use as office chair caster replacements) for literally half the price, I was expecting these ones to separate themselves (quality-wise) somehow. In my case, that expectation was that the bearings would be "smoother" than offerings I've tried in the past, and that a reputable brand name would be stamped on the bearing housing. In actuality, these bearings were the stiffest of any set of rollerblade-style wheels I've ever owned (be there for actual rollerblades or office chairs). Whether or not that actually matters in relation to their durability? Time will tell. Really would've liked to have seen a reputable brand name stamped on these bearings though. I'll update this review in ~6 months after they've been on my chair (a HON Ignition 2.0) for ~1,000 hours or so (which is roughly 24 weeks @ 8 hours a day, 5 days a week). By then I'll be able to detail just how robust the wheel surface material is (i.e. just how much of it has been rubbed away) and whether or not the build quality holds up over time. It is my hope that there will be little (if any) "slop" / wiggle introduced into the system over that time. Time will tell! ... show more

    • Replacement Casters Better Than Original Equipment

I purchased the Replacement Casters for an over-the-bed table that I also use to support additional projects when my computer desk is full. The original wheels had gradually decayed and piece by piece fell off until rolling the table was very difficult. When I decided it was time to replace the wheels I first visited our local home center stores but none of them had the replacement wheels that were just the right size for the opening. They were either too long, too wide or too narrow. After shopping around on Amazon I found this set of rubber chair casters. I was so pleased when they arrived. Installation was a snap - literally less than a minute and no tools required. These look like furniture grade wheels and the color complements our table - kind of a smoky-brown. They are whisper quiet. I only needed 3 wheels but there were 5 in the box so I have saved them for replacements if needed in the future. I am so happy with this product. Thank You! ... show more
