  • A Guide To Tiny Home Living
Format: Kindle
I have been considering building or buying a tiny home for a short term rental investment. The book, Tiny Home Design by Suvetha Ganesh is a comprehensive and detailed book that expertly covers all aspects of tiny home living, including electrical requirements and strategies to manage solar usage. To be honest, in the US we tend to “plug it in and leave it plugged in. I am reminded (in a good way) of the movie Apollo 13, where the engineers had to figure out how to minimize electrical use. It also has a chapters that covers strategies to conserve space such as “pocket Doors”, Barn doors and the like, as well as shading and venting to get the most out of any tiny home. For someone considering a tiny home and thinking about how to live “Off Grid” this book would be an excellent resource. ... show more

  • More practical than most tiny home books
Format: Kindle
What stood out to me is that this isn’t just about making a tiny space look nice—it’s about making it actually work, especially if you’re trying to live more off-grid or reduce utility use. I liked how the book focuses on systems (space, water, and power) instead of treating everything separately. The ideas around multifunction layouts and low-watt setups felt especially useful, and the 30-day roadmap gives it structure instead of just being a collection of tips. It leans more practical than inspirational, which I personally appreciated, but some readers might want more visuals or design-heavy examples. Overall, it’s a solid guide if you want to improve how your space functions, not just how it looks. ... show more

  • Common sense advice
Format: Paperback
This tiny home design book has an interesting twist. The book doesn’t just give the reader a tiny home design but also addresses power and water concerns. The book gives a step-by-step tutorial on how to maximize the energy efficiency of your tiny home addressing common sense solutions like identifying energy drains from devices that are always on (and draining electricity) to modifying the design of your home to maximize the flow of air from heating and cooling units. Using easy to follow tools like a 60 minute energy audit the book will save any home owner hundreds of dollars in energy bills a year help declutter your home. I was amazed by some of the authors calculations; like turning off a TV cluster 16 hours a day can save up to $3.46 a month! There are intelligent, and well thought out discussions such as how to modify the timing of your energy use so you maximize the advantages of a small solar system and choosing furnishings that have multiple uses like a murphy bed the is also a desk. This is a comprehensive book focused on the development of tiny homes but has value for any home owner that wants to minimize energy costs and maximize space. ... show more

  • Off grid heavy info
Format: Kindle
Shows more ideas around off grid living than tiny homes, but there is a lot of info about loving in small space homes and how to set them up to conserve space. You don't need a 400 sq ft home to use the info in this book tho, negate the techniques described can be applied to any size home!

  • a practical guide
Format: Kindle
super practical and easy to follow, especially if you’re new to off grid living. I loved how it focuses on real solutions like saving space, water, and power without rebuilding everything. The 30 day plan makes it feel doable and not overwhelming at all.

  • Solid guide
Format: Kindle
While I’m more of a tiny home fan than an off-grid enthusiast, I still found this book really useful. It focuses on making small spaces work better, not just look good. Some parts get a bit technical, but overall it’s a practical, solid guide.
