  • Great wine Rack for Expanded Storage
Size: 60 Bottle
I built a 4ft by 4ft floating unit to hold 2 60 bottle wracks for expanded storage in our basement. I blocked the studs behind and hung about 4 ft off the ground. Case is made primarily with 3/4 plywood. The size of these fit great with the 4ft x 4 ft 3/4 ply sheets that run about $40-$50 at local hardware stores leaving fairly minimal cutting, etc. The racks both drill through the 3/4 plywood into the studs behind and are very sturdy. I originally built a 2 ft by 4 ft case out of 3/4 ply wood for a 60 bottle rack and converted that to the expanded version shown in the pictures. For the initial iteration (shown in 4th picture) I did not support the bottom legs of the rack and had no problems the last 5 years or so. For the expanded double rack system I did build a shelf to support the legs as shown in the picture, so as to avoid sagging, etc. It actually provides a nice little shelf for magnum size bottles using some shipper inserts as bottle spacers. Overall very satisfied with the racks in terms of sturdiness, cost and appearance. I like the enclosure to further protect the bottle collection from getting hit by mistake. Anyway thought I would share in case it inspires someone or someone finds the ability to hang off 3/4 plywood with out supporting the bottom legs helpful. ... show more

  • Nice sized wine rack
Size: 40 Bottle
This is a great inexpensive wine rack. I like to stock up when I find my favorites on sale and this gives me lots of room to do so. Being able to fasten it to the wall at the top for added stability is a real plus, especially considering my three rowdy cats. It holds regular sized wine bottles at a gentle tilt, enough to keep the corks wet. Simple and good looking. ... show more

  • Great value wine rack
Size: 60 Bottle
This is a great wine rack for the price. While perhaps not as nice looking as the wooden ones, the price per bottle is drastically cheaper. Basically no assembly required unless you mount it to a wall, it's sturdy and looks fine. Mine is in our cellar so not really on display, and holds a lot of wine for the footprint. All bottles fit, including my thickest Burgundy style bottles, except for on the edge slots, where they're too fat. Rhone style bottles, however, fit there fine. I'll probably be buying another one soon, I got my first as an open box return for only $60, even if the second is full price, I'll have 120 bottle storage for a little more then $1/bottle. I'm very happy with that kind of value. ... show more

  • Very Good Wine Rack
Size: 60 Bottle
This is a very good wine rack. There is no instructions, but none are really necessary. It took me a second to figure out how the bottles would be placed on the rack (bottle stem in or out). By trying both ways, it is clear that bottle stems are face-out. The rack was easy to install and includes some mounting screws / anchors. The only negative comment that I have is the bottles are very close together. Most people will find this advantageous-- fitting 60 bottles in the smallest space possible. The negative is that when adding and removing bottles, you can brush up (and move) the bottle above it. I installed the rack in an unfinished room in my basement. Without the wall behind it, I actually pushed a bottle through when adding a bottle. This is a minor concern which won't affect most people, but it is the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. ... show more

  • Really does the job well, especially for the price
Size: 60 Bottle
This is a great unit. Very well-finished, it would look good in a dining room. It holds all of the variously shaped bottles in my diverse wine collection. It holds them all securely, I'm not worried about any slipping out. It holds them at a good angle so that the corks will not dry out. It's not the most heavy-duty affair -- I would not put it to use in a commercial establishment -- but it seems fine for home use. In short, I trust it to hold 60 bottles of my wine sitting on a concrete floor in the basement. I did attach it to the basement wall by drilling two 5/32" holes in the concrete wall with a carbide-tipped drill bit, and then attaching the top of the wine rack to the wall with two 3/16" concrete screws (the unit has attachment holes provided, along with the hardware to attach it to a wooden or sheetrock wall). It does not seem particularly unstable or wobbly, but it's petite enough that one accidental bump could spell disaster on a concrete floor. Securing at least the top of the unit will also ensure that it never begins to sag or buckle in the middle (just in case I am mis-reading the strength of the unit). The whole setup, including the drilling and attaching, took just a few minutes. It took longer to organize and load 48 bottles of wine into the unit than it took to get it from the box to being ready for use. ... show more

  • Great deal for a good price
Size: 60 Bottle
Everyone's reviews are pretty spot on. This is not a standalone wine rack but really sturdy when you anchor it to the wall with the anchors and screws provided. It fit the bill perfectly for me in the end of one of our closets. I would suggest mounting it off the floor on a sturdy platform otherwise you are down on the floor looking for wine on the bottom shelves. About 16" off the floor worked great and gave me room to store a few bottles or a box of wine underneath. I built a simple shelf out of 1/2" plywood and 2x4 legs - I was not concerned about appearance since in a closet. I used washers under the screws before I mounted the rack to the wall. As noted, the rows are a little close together but this does not seem to be a big deal. I priced plain-Jane pine, unfinished wooden racks and they were $40 or more higher for the same amount of bottles. ... show more

  • Great Wine Rack for the basement
Size: 60 Bottle
I already had a stand alone rack in my basement that held 36 bottles, and I need a lot more storage space. And after looking around this had the space and the cost was right. It was easy to install. It would probably stand by itself but I attached to the studs in a wall. By doing it that way it is as solid as a rock. One point to mention is that it will hold standard size, 750 ml bottles. But the gap between each shelve is too small to handle the larger 1.5 liter bottles. I now use my first rack which has wider space between the shelves for the 1.5 liter bottles. And this is definitely great wine rack for the storage space and price. ... show more
