Description

It's a mere Shadow of a Mask; Lightweight and low volume, with a soft, comfortable, hypoallergenic black or clear liquid-silicone skirt. Because there is no frame, the Shadow's single lens sits close to the face, offering an unusually wide field of view. Also, because there is no frame, the mask folds into a neat package small enough to slip into a BC pocket, making it an easy to carry as a back-up. The black silicone skirt eliminates light coming in from the sides, which means the Shadow is an excellent mask for hunters and photographers who need to see, well, in the shadows. The clear version will satisfy those who prefer the translucent transmission of light into the mask. The Shadow mask has buckles that swivel and are easy to adjust, allowing a custom fit. It is available in two sizes suitable for a wide range of faces. The Shadow has a double feathered edge skirt for a great seal and a large easy to reach one-handed nose pocket for ear equalization that works even when wearing heavy neoprene gloves. The single safety tempered glass lens provides a clear view and the Shadow now includes a neoprene comfort strap that won't get tangled in your hair and the soft neoprene rubber design increases comfort. The Shadow comes with a mask box.

Before the mask's first use, I pre-treated the lens by applying basic, simple, traveler-sized Colgate toothpaste five times on the inside and two times on the outside (and dried well before reapplying). I experienced no fogging after a quick dive in the pool and no leaking. This black mask fits great (even on my big head that my brothers say that I have), and it provides a wide and excellent field of view compared to other black and even clear masks that I've used in the past. The strap also feels very comfortable, and my hair doesn't feel like it's being pulled. The only thing that I don't like is that the strap does take a lot longer to dry because it's not the usual silicone strap, but I doubt it'll be an issue. Used for Scuba. I love this mask. If it fits your face it is awesome. I much prefer the single lens type masks as well as an all black mask. This is nice and matte and does not bounce any light inside mask. Frameless and extremely low volume; very close to my face but in a good way with an exceptional field of view. The strap is horrid. I would replace immediately. Fortunately the mask had a good enough fit that I didn’t actually need a strap at depth, but not ok to have a crap strap in general. The silicone skirt is also extremely light, which is both comfortable, but might be more potentially prone to leaking as well. I need a bit more time with it to say for sure... ... show more

Great mask. I already owned this mask and wanted a second so I felt okay about purchasing online. I would caution you on buying a mask online, because fit is everything in a mask. What works for one, doesn't for another. I purchased my original masks at a dive shop and I was able to try them out. I went through two masks until I decided on this one. That said, if you are hell bent on buying without trying on, this is a good mask for someone with a more round face. My daughter and husband have a more narrow face so they got the same brand but the shadow mini. I seem to be more impressed with mine. But of course it's all about the fit. ... show more

I bought the one that was supposed to be for smaller faces, but it was terrible-it leaked like crazy and fogged up even after anti fog treatment. I ended up having to buy another mask (Scubapro Mini) from the dive shop in the middle of my trip. The dive instructor tried this mask and he admitted it was horrible as well! It might fit ok for veryround faces, but that is it. ... show more

    • I ordered Medium and it was still too wide
I really wanted this mask for the neoprene strap with the tribal hammerhead print on it! I have long hair and the strap was great for me, but even with the "medium" (smaller that standard) size, I did not get a good seal on the sides. My face is slightly narrow, but usually a smaller size will fit. The case it came in said "Mini" on it, but I am fairly sure the mask was not a mini size. ... show more

    • Best mask I've ever owner...perfect for spearfishing

Very low profile...enough so to allow for peripheral vision, which is important when spearfishing. Not sure what others are doing wrong with the fogging, I use Arm&Hammer toothpaste as an anti-fogging measure and have never had a problem. I could see that people with XXX mugs might have a problem, because of the low-profile, but this mask works for the both of us. I free-dive/spearfish regularly (1-2 times a week year round) and have had no problems. I lost mine recently on a scalloping expedition...I borrowed a friends and then I realized exactly how excellent this mask is. Needless to say, I immediately ordered another when I got home. I am just glad that they have come down in price since my initial (2) purchases almost 10 years ago. ... show more
