  • Perfect for plumbing areas
Style: 1-Pack Size: 14"x 14"
I recently bought a mobile home and I’m renting it to a mom and her daughter. I had to replace a tub faucet and had to cut a hole in the wall behind the bathroom. These panels are perfect to use in place like that. Now if and plumbing needs to be done in these areas, I won’t have to cut anymore holes and putty and paint. ... show more

I've never been disappointed by any Oatey product I've ever purchased. It was the same with this access panel. Well made. Easy to install. Paintable. Highly recommended product!

  • Good With Some Encouragement
Style: 1-Pack Size: 8x8 Inch
Installed with the proper steps this is a great product. I've ordered and installed five of them. To paint them, make sure you paint the two parts separately and give the paint time to cure before you work with it (as it will need to withstand some flexing). I used Benjamin Moore paint and it held more securely with some Killz primer, though the one I simply painted did wind up working out great after curing with a small touchup. In regard to folks who gummed it up, I'm not sure what they did. You wouldn't want to simply paint over it or (worse yet) roll over it, as that would fill the crevices with paint and obviously cause problems. The product does come with a slight bow to it so it won't necessarily lay perfectly flat against the wall. When I installed it with Liquid Nails I had to prop a 2x4 across the bowed portion and lean some drywall against it to keep in in place. That was a bit of an annoyance and might cause trouble for people if they don't have something to lean agains it. Or maybe they won't care about that detail. On one of them the door didn't quite fit in properly and I had to trim some excess plastic from inside where it hadn't poured into the mold quite right. Now installed and painted, though, they're all great and look as good as one could hope for. ... show more

  • Easy to install
Style: 1-Pack Size: 6" x 9"
Last winter my hose bib was leaking a bit and as you would in Colorado, it froze up and a huge block of ice formed. I freaked out a bit and thawed the hose bib out, it is a frost free bib so I knew that it was at the very least unlikely my pipes were frozen beyond the bib, plus no signs of an internal leak so I turned it tight enough to stop the drip and forgot about it until spring. I needed a way to check if my hose bib burst but also figured an access panel was in order for future servicing and repairs. This fit the bill and is a lot easier than drywall repair. I just marked around the outside of the flange, cut the hole in the ceiling with a utility knife, applied some latex/silicon caulk around the edge of this and popped it in. It fits flush against the ceiling in spite of joists crossing paths with it and it is relatively easy to open and close. It is pretty cheap, but it looks inconspicuous, and it doesn't poke out very far from the wallboard. Now I can check the hose for leaks or repair/replace my hose bib without any fuss. ... show more

  • Made in U.S.A.
Style: 1-Pack Size: 6" x 9"
Needed this to access an electrical raceway (soffit) that the contractor decided to bury for all my house circuits, going through my garage. Build: Not cheap plastic. It's about 1/8" thick and the frame is designed to prevent the panel from sinking in upon snapping into place. I was glad to see that it's made in U.S.A. as well, matching the quality. The surface is textured and will accept paint easily. The cover has optional knockouts on the inside for utilities. Also, the snap in cover and flange are designed to work backwards as well, so instead of having a trimmed flange and cover visible, it can be installed on the opposite side of the wall, leaving only the protruding frame for the cover to fit into. Clever. I'll attach pictures. Ergonomics: as with this type of access, you'll need to pry it open. Since it is plastic, I usually use the head of a key of something if similar shape to prevent damaging the surface. The size of the opening can easily fit your arm, as well. Installation can be a breeze with patience. A little construction adhesive on the backside of the flange will do just fine. Just make sure to apply good pressure to maintain a flush mounting. ... show more

  • Functional
Style: 1-Pack Size: 6" x 9"
This is my second access panel I have purchased. I used the first for access to a plug behind a corner cabinet in my remodeled kitchen. By code you must have access to electrical outlets, and this allowed me to keep access, at the same time having a clean look inside the cabinet. The second panel is used in the basement as an access hole to pipes in the remodeled kitchen. Instead of repairing the drywall, I installed this so I could keep access in the event something would need to be changed or accessed, since the hole was under the kitchen sink. It blends very well with the ceiling and so far no one has noticed unless I pointed it out. The ceiling is painted flat white. The panel has a bevel around the opening so your hole doesn't have to be perfect, and a simple bit of adhesive (I used Liquid Nails) on the backside of the bevel, sliding it in the hole will make it look very professional and secure the bezel to the opening.. The insert that covers the opening fits very tightly, so it will not come off by accident, and might even require a screwdriver or similar device to open the access hole. This can be install on a ceiling without worrying about the insert falling out. The insert can be difficult to place back in the panel surround since it fits tightly, and once it seats, it "clicks" in. I will continue to turn to Oatey Access Panels when I have the need, especially during a bathroom remodel in the future, so I can access any pipes around the tube if needed. If you have to cut in to drywall, this is a great alternative to repairing the drywall, and it gives you the convenience of future access if needed. ... show more
