I don’t leave too many reviews , but this reamer is awesome! I purchased a motorhome that the previous owner let a 1 1/2 black abs line freeze. The line broke at the fitting. I took this reamer to the fitting and cut the old pipe out of it immediately. This made the job easy!

I am installing a new utility sink in my garage, and the old p-trap drain was completley made from schedule 40 PVC. Of course, the new sink sits 1 inch further from the wall, so the p-trap did not line up with the new sink drain and i knew i needed to extend the p-trap from the wall. To start, I cut the old p-trap back to the wall joint. Then, I needed to ream out the old 1-1/2 inch pipe piece. This reamer set worked perfectly! I went slow and ensured that the reamer bit cut evenly. In my experience, the old pipe piece was reamed out perfectly, the new 1-1/2 inch pipe fit snugly, and i didn't notice any significant heat build up in the bit. Highly recommend and would buy again.

I’ve only unused the 1-1/2 but man what a work saver. Love these so far, just make sure you as straight as possible, if not it does slightly oversized the female pipe.

Works but be cautious about using

This works like a hole saw bit but with precise dimensions to drill the remaining PVC pipe out of a fitting. Works well but caution to take the following steps otherwise you may end up widening the fitting opening: 1. Cut the pipe flush with the fitting opening 2. Keep the drill centered & aligned 90 degrees to the fitting while using 3. Cool down the reamer with cold water if cutting efficiency drops 4. Periodically tighten the bolt that holds the reamer to the bit shaft after each use to ensure there is no movement

5 star item i've used 2 inch and 1/2 to save time and money

Had a roof vent pipe i couldn't get out, someone had taken 2 inch, then reduced to 1 1/2. There was no room to cut off. Drilled it out with the 2 inch no problem (same company). Got the 1 1/2 to drill out pentair pool valves that were plumbed with 1 1/2 these , i use 2 on those but wanted to drill out the old 1 1/2 to maximize flow, did it to 3 pool valves.

This thing saves time having to get a new fitting. The main reason I got it was for a fitting I couldn't replace without searching a lot more than what I had for a special fitting. Worked great for it but have used it more than I thought I would. Less trips to the hardware store. Easy to use.

Nicely made, but…

Great idea, but the hole is too large to safely reuse fittings. New fittings provide a tight interference fit when you insert a glued pipe into the hub, forcing the softened pieces together to bond. This tool completely removes the pipe and reams some of the fitting wall. For me, the resulting hole is about 0.858 in, and has very rough surface. A piece of 1/2 PVC pipe I checked is 0.845 in. The 0.013 gap provides a very, very loose fit. PVC glue can not fill the resulting gaps. I don’t see any way to adjust the size, either. Pretty much unsuitable for the intended purpose.
