Got it for my (soon to be) 5 year old (42lb). It fits just right I will add the strap that goes between the legs tho. The life jacket is designed short (I think) so when the kid sits down the jacket doesn't lift up and squeeze his neck. Definitely not a youth size. This thing is tiny.
