I moved out of state last year. I had two large wooden bookshelves that I could not bring to our new home so I had to sell them. They were also very heavy and would not fit in the POD I used to move. I purchased one of these bookshelves to see if I would like it. I loved it and then quickly bought a second one to accommodate my books. I had to purchase a third one and I mistakenly order the wrong size. The seller noticed that I had purchased the other two previously and contacted me to make sure that the bookcase was indeed the size I wanted. I rate this product "adequate". It feels sturdy and stable, looks fine, and is reasonably easy to assemble (I did it alone). I put the top and bottom shelves (and cross braces) on before standing it up and then installing the rest of the shelves. Tightened the bolts on the top/bottom shelves, then everything else once it was standing and complete. There seems to be problems with quality control. I ordered two. One of the shelves that I received had a chip off the edge of a shelf out of the box. One of the threaded inserts in a shelf didn't have threads. One of the upright sections was bent/collapsed inward on both sides. The 6 shelf version has short extensions that you insert and screw in, but they don't line up well so look a little bad. The print on some of the shelves seems poorly registered and they have a distracting "blurry" look to them. The other was mostly better, but did have some corners/edges "squashed" like they had been dropped. The product images make a point of the shelf being 30mm, but you should note that this is *only* the top shelf (and I measured almost exactly 1 1/8 in, which is 28.5mm. The other shelves are thinner, at 5/8 in.) If you assemble the cross braces as shown in the instructions, the bolts stick out the back and may scrape or dig into your wall (especially if you use the brackets). Orienting the opposite direction is possible but doesn't look like a good idea: the hole on the inside is largeish and dented inwards, to where you would want a washer between the bolt and the frame. The shelves seem to flex somewhat easily, I am doubting the "160lbs" per shelf claim. Will have to see how it holds up with a load of books over time. (Edit: with too many hardbacks, some of the shelves bow in the middle) Despite all of the above, it seems like a reasonable product for the price. None of the problems were critical and none of the cosmetic flaws really matter from a distance. Lots of shelf space, reasonably attractive looking, seems to be stable even on the thick carpet in the only room I have a free wall to place them. ... show more
