Going to give my honest opinion and will update review after I've had the futon for a few months. I have been doing my research for MONTHS on futons before settling on this purchase. I was going to purchase a futon from a Amazon (different company though) for $225 more. The only difference was the other futon had attached side end tables and this does not. There was a few other very minute differences. But I figured for $200 less I'd give it a shot. Honestly I'm very happy with the purchase. A lot of these reviews were right good and bad. Here's a list of pros and cons. Pros Assembly wasn't terrible. 2 hours with my husband doing most the work and I just handed bolts and telling him where everything went. The instructions are really clear and everything is color coded, and they give you a YouTube tutorial link to go to if needed. We didn't have to use that. 1 person could put this together. I also recommend using the Allen wrench provided and not power tools. I know it'll take longer but you will also split this wood if you torque the screw down too hard! The mattress was the main reason I purchased this particular item and it paid off! It is sooooooo comfy! I have sat and laid on it but not slept with it down in the flat position yet. I have a bad back and I really like the firmness and comfort of this mattress. Sturdiness, I am pleasantly surprised by. Its a good sturdy frame. My husband and I both sat on it and watched a movie and I never felt unsecure sitting on it together. (We ain't small people either. 😆) The picture doesn't show and I was nervous they wouldn't be included BUT the back supports were included for when you lay the bed part down to sturdy the bed. I was very happy those were included. Shipping was STUPID fast. I got a notice Monday it was out for delivery. It arrived Tuesday by 3pm. 4 days earlier than expected. Shipping and returns (prime) was the biggest reason I finally decided on this bed. Because other places were making the customer pay for the shipping if something wasn't correct with the futon. Cons The mattress does have a strong chemical smell. It smelled "like" paint or some sort of weird chemical smell for about 4 days after putting it up. I mean it goes away. But it was slightly unpleasant. The bolt packaging is terrible. Its the hard plastic wrapping and the first 2 seconds of putting it together I thought I was missing bolts, but they had busted through the plastic and found in the box randomly. We spent about 10 minutes looking for them and 5 minutes in between trying to figure out what we were going to do about the "missing" bolts. That was annoying! There were a few wood inserts to cover the bolt holes there were in the instructions but nowhere in the packaging. The 2 bed support pieces that were included when the beds laid down for support were not included in the instruction manual. We just kind of figured that out ourselves. Overall it was ABSOLUTELY worth the purchase. Hopefully I feel the same in months and years to come. I'll update this review then! ... show more

Arrived in great shape. No damage, all hardware and directions. Watch Video for assembly, then use directions for references. Better quality wood and hardware than a lot of Box stores. A few small things would make the futon a lot better: gliders on bottom of legs (raw wood leg bottoms), full side panels. All slats screwed to support bars on seat and back. Would eliminate the squeaks. Work from the ends to open and close, watch out the back will drop fast. Make sure to push down to start the fold and pickup the front seat section, back will drop like a rock. Just remember this a futon, not a queen bed. A pre-assembled back and seat section (2 pieces) would create a stronger base. Would make a large flat pack for shipping. ... show more

Love this thing. Every guest who sleeps on it loves it. After sleeping on it, my son is buying another one for HIS living room. There's a trick to getting it fully upright otherwise it sticks at an odd angle. The storage holds all the bedclothes for guests. The build went smoothly. Warning: It is made from quality materials so it is quite heavy! Takes some effort to move the boxes. But the build instructions are incredibly simple and the parts are very clearly labeled in somewhat unique packaging. It costs a bit more, but you get a solid, comfortable sleeper-sofa worth twice the price! ... show more

Sturdy, quality, comfort, value, navy is more blue but no complaints overall except that one piece came with reasonably damaged/scrapped edges on one end not from shipping but was willing to look past it. Great mattress, put together by myself with no additional tools and minimal instruction within a couple hours. The lack of star came from the drawers, easy assembly and attractive until put in place, there is a 6 inch gap between them! They do not fill the void as nicely as pictured almost as though they are a size too small. Hoping to resolve this and not have to return the entire futon as the rest of it was without complaint... will update, post response as with proper drawers its 5 stars worthy all day (i can overlook some blemishes), but if not i will be deducting more as i assume the wrong ones must have been sent and should be resolvable... (Was never resolved or acknowledged even.) ... show more

Ok... so far, I love this thing. It's quite comfy. I might add a memory foam topper for a little more comfort. It's incredibly well made and looks great in my spare room/ office. I bought this because I knew it would be me sleeping on it when I had guests if I had to work; this way I wouldn't wake anyone. The ONLY reason why I gave it 4 stars is because this this is mega heavy and hard to maneuver as a result. I wish it were a little easier move into place. ... show more
