First time using a transit and it's a amazing tool. Set it up and eyeballed the tripods level to start. Leveling the transit was super easy, no problems, just look at the bubble and turn the knobs. Focus is great everything I positioned it on couldn't have been clearer. I received a 14' grade rod, the add said 8' so was pretty happy about that. I'm putting in 600' of pipe fencing and this made life so much easier, being able to get perfect 90s with it when plumbed on corner pin helps a lot especially since I had one corner pin left and the neighbors wall 300 foot away for my points. I actually worked as a land survey apprentice for a little over a year- and when I went to build a deck for my house, the best way I knew to level the pilings was… a transit level. It worked great! The crosshairs are very fine but that isn’t by any means a bad thing. I’d buy it again!

Good value, magnification and clarity. Accuracy depends on being level, so extra effort is rewarded with consistent, repeatable results. I would recommend this product for anyone who doesn't need or can't justify a laser setup.

Tripod is incredibly cheap...lots of plastic parts and poorly designed. Head seems really nice...hefty and well built...my only complaint is that the bubble is very hard to see. Clear bubble in a clear liquid on a white background...seriously? My old craftsman had an all metal tripod, I had no trouble seeing the bubble (in a yellow/green liquid...duh), and it lasted 20+ years. Somehow I don't see this one lasting nearly that long... ... show more

with the limited number of times that I have used it so far, it has met my needs. Easy set up, was able to re-establish baseline measurement within a sixteenrh of an inch. I have not yet used it over longer distances to determine accuracy over those longer distances.
