  • Fun, easy to use, actually works!
I made 8 handles for my file set, and then started searching the garage for more tools that need handles! Fun to use, but it has some low-quality parts, so it helps if you are handy with tools. A wing nut stripped on the third use, but I just use pliers to tighten it now. Otherwise, fantastic little machine, does what I bought it for. ... show more

  • Great for small parts
This little thing is surprisingly great for small metal and wood parts. I understand it's primarily use is for turning wood; but, I was able to hook up a small metal cutting blade to the chuck and fit it into the provided protective shield. I sectioned a 1" wide by 0.5" thick 300 Series Stainless steel bar stock on it. The little motor was enough to slowly grind through. It took 40 minutes (ha!), so I would not recommend using it for anything other than hobbies. Get some cutting fluid (or make it yourself) to help speed your metal parts up a bit, save your blade, and get a better polish on the cut face. All tools in a simple drill set, and small carpenters circular blades, should all fit into the chuck. I'll recommend this to anyone looking to get started as a hobby machinist. ... show more

  • It's a cool toy,
Its a cool toy to have but dont expect to get work done with it. Good to tiny stuff you may want to sand. I dont think the motor is strong enough to hold a pen or let you carve it. As soon as you try it will stop turning. But works for sanding.

  • Missaligned junk made from some slilding door frame and a drill motor, dangerous.
Pros: Cute looking from a distance. Cons: Bought the 'Group 2' package but the tool is missing the second chuck shown on the rear of the motor in the item photos for Group 2. Lathe comes with no front thimble to hold and center wood on the chuck end. Uses an under powered battery operated drill motor. Made from a piece of sliding door frame with hex nuts ground on a bench grinder to sloppily fit in the tracks. Nuts to insert into tracks are a poor fit, badly ground, and so it is impossible to align anything making the makeshift lathe very dangerous to use. Uses an underpowered hand held drill motor to spin the chuck, it is screwed onto an 'L' shaped piece of thin metal through two oblong slots. It is impossible to align the motor vertically with the rear thimble by moving each side bolt up or down tediously loosening and tightening them to no avail. The motor sits crooked horizontally on the track because of the poorly fitting nuts under the mounting bracket that allow it to twist from left to right, this makes alignment even more impossible. Mandrills for saw blades are so crooked as to make that function extremely dangerous. Saw blades are not true, holes for mandrill are off center, and blades are warped too dangerous to use. Tin that looks like it's from old beige computer cases pulled from a scrap heap as covers. Rear thimble assembly is a bearing pressed into a chunk of not square or true aluminum with no vertical or horizontal adjustments. Thimble assembly block bolted crookedly to a piece or crooked soft aluminum bar stock with the same badly ground nuts in the channel below making it impossible to align it with the front chuck. Chisels for cutting wood are laughably awful, may be okay for working in soft clay. BAENRCY does not exist as a company, just a made up string of random letters, therefore zero warranty. Conclusion: This machine is thrown together very badly from junk parts and is dangerous to use. Retuning a few days after receiving it, customer service does not rectify anything just blames Amazon for missing parts from their own factory sealed package. I can build one with my own junk lying about such as old drills with defunct batteries and a piece of more appropriate metal channeling. My advice is to avoid this piece of dangerous junk and if you want something similar build it yourself making sure it is safe to use unlike this one. ... show more

  • Operating instructions. J
Well, it's like this... I've never used a lathe before, but because I can usually figure out stuff if there are instructions that come with the things I buy. Well... I find the CLEARLY STATED, in English "Operating Instructions" on the cover. Look no further, we are in business. I've got the instructions. So I open the front page to begin to read this very thin instructions booklet and there is not ONE WORD beyond the front cover in English. Not one! What??? So, I assume that the reasone why "Operation instructions " in English on the front page of the pamphlet was that I should look no further in the box, because I found them. Or someone who wrote this is having a good giggle at this American English woman who only knows how to speak one language. Maybe I should download Duolingo. Lol Ok, plan B... YOUTUBE!!!!. Thank God for YouTube. I figured it out. I haven't actually used it on anything yet. But, at least I know how it work. These things are important of us beginner's ya know. LOL. YouTube is the way to go if you can't read the pamphlet. 😜 ... show more

  • low vibration, well centered.
very accurate rotation, simple. Saw works great on small samples I have been using these in an engineering education setting, and they are great. One of the three I purchased had some damage during shipping, and seller was super responsive with a quick refund.

For the very much a value price , I actually wasn't expecting much. I'm pretty surprised. Very nice starter level Wood Lathe for Mini/Micro projects. I got this for Our Dad to tinker with. Solid Little Machine.
