I saw the amazing reviews, so I gave it a go. It’s amazing and super easy to install. I recommend watching the installation instruction video in YouTube, it was super helpful. The board sizes has to be 5.5” wide, not 6” like it says in the packaging. I bought cedar picket fence slats, it’s a perfect 5.5” width and I just had to cut it to the length I needed. Yes the system is made of plastic parts but I knew that from reading the description. If you are going to adjust them daily then metal might be better because I do see some flex in the plastic but honestly I only open or close mine once a week so no problem at all. Plus I don't have to worry about the plastic corroding in my coastal environment. Assembly was very easy after watching the video. One thing to note is that these are listed for 6-in wide boards but that is not correct. They are only 5 and 3/4 in. I bought actual 6-in boards and had to use the table saw to cut each of them down which was a bit of a pain. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. You have to buy your own 5" wide shutter boards, cut to length and paint. Kit only comes with the plastic swivel hangers and connecting bars, screws and basic instructions. They are not designed to close 100%. The side connecting bars will hit the side jambs (as intended) so I drilled the swivel holes close to the jamb edge to maximize closure swivel. Takes work, power tools and some know-how. The vertical spacing is critical - based on the vertical connecting bars screw connections. Replaced aging screens and was a substantial improvement. I needed to add privacy to ground floor glass doors so I used 4 sets of these to make a privacy fence. I’ve gotten a ton of compliments. So far no issues and seem durable for being plastic. One note, instead of ripping down the 5.5, I just notched the corners to make these fit.

Although the design is what I was looking for, I specifically wanted a metal products (as the product name "NUVO Iron" led me to believe) but learned upon receipt that it was made of plastic.

Im a DIY person and didnt really like the louver system that’s readily made That are exclusively made of Aluminum. I strongly believe that incorporating a louvre system is the main advantage of adjusting the roof of my pergola against the sun throughout the year (full sun during summer months). This is the most affordable solution to my design and could not be happier that it is made in Canada. Install is quite easy by following the company’s you tube video. A lot of concerns of the wood sagging overtime, so my design only used 2.5 feet. Avoiding any warping, sagging on the long run.But bare in mind that, wood deforming overtime is dependent on the length of wood (the longer the cuts, the more It’ll deform). Completely not because of the louver system. I’m sure it can handle any lightweight composites if you avoid wood. I used cedar that’s has been kiln dried so the moisture content is 3-5% so it’s very lightweight. I also believe that because the louver system is plastic, it is quite tolerant and flexible against the free play between fastening the louvers to each other. I will update on how it looks after a year or two being baked by the sun in Southern California. Thank you. ... show more
