I've recently begun trying to bike more frequently to work but soon realized a problem. I really hated wearing the helmet I already owned and sometimes would leave it at home. It was uncomfortable, ugly, and no matter how I adjusted it, I either felt like I was choking, not protected, or as if my head was being squeezed. I had begun to save money for a new helmet and remarked to my partner that I would like a better looking one, but the ones I liked best were more expensive. My partner then said something that is really important when considering the cost of a helmet: The best helmet is the one you wear. I realized that I would be much more likely to wear a helmet that I enjoyed wearing, and that makes any additional cost well worth it. So rather than get your typical helmet from your typical big box retailer, I got this Nutcase helmet. I've worn it consistently for about two weeks and find it really comfortable. I like how easy it is to adjust the sizing with the dial. Love the magnetic clasp. And, for a helmet, this thing is pretty cute. I find it to be lightweight. The vizor is, well, pretty useless at shading my eyes, but I've got sunglasses for that. I've worn it on some pretty hot and humid days and find it to be just fine in terms of temperature control, but I also don't really expect a helmet to do much in the way of regulating my head's temperature on a hot day. So if you are like me and were only planning on spending $20 or so on a helmet, but were eyeing one of these for their style and premium features, consider how much more likely you will be to wear a helmet when you enjoy putting it on. Thankfully, it hasn't been put through the test of an accident, but knowing that I will probably have it on should something happen makes it worth every penny. If you are someone, however, who wants a more robust visor, an even lighter feel, or more breeze to gust through the air vents, this probably isn't the helmet for you. But it is the best helmet for me.

My head size was between to sizes so I got the smaller one because that was the only size they had in this model. It was too small. If your near the cusp, Err on ordering a larger size. With its hard shell, it is heavier than more race oriented helmets. That is not what it is for. Looks good. Now I need to find a seller who has my size.

According to the sizing chart I should have bought a Medium, instead bought the Large and it fit perfectly. Also says it comes with a removable clip on visor, but it was not in the box. That being said I probably wouldn't have used it anyway so not a show stopper. Overall think it's a good helmet.

I am happy with the fit of this helmet. I love the adjustable dial at the back which makes it nice and snug. There are a few downsides, but I don’t think they are dealbreakers. I was excited to get a helmet with a visor on it, however the visor is very difficult to put on. There are three tiny plastic knobs on the visor you force into three tiny holes in the spongy liner of the helmet, but not only is it difficult to push in, they don’t stay put especially if you grab your helmet and your hand pushes the visor a little. My visor popped out a few times just while taking the photos for this review. This needs to be improved if they want to keep it as a selling point. I also feel like a top-heavy bobblehead wearing it, as I have a small head and petite stature. But it’s there to protect me, not to make me look like a supermodel! So I can get over it. Lastly, the color I got (Dust For Prints Reflective) is more of a dark army green rather than the vibrant pea green shown in the pictures. I can live with it but I wonder if it looks like an army helmet. But no biggie, I can buy stickers to jazz it up a bit. Opening the magnetic clasp was tricky for about a minute, but then I read the handy instructions complete with a diagram and it was actually easy peasy. I haven’t taken it out for a spin yet, as I bought it for rollerskating but I have yet to learn how to roller skate!

I have an older Nutcase and this one fit much better without having to use extra padding. The only problem is that the helmet does not have the leather looking trim that is displayed in picture. I was a little disappointed because I really liked the look with the trim.

This is my second nutcase helmet. The first got me through getting hit by a car while biking to work. Once I recovered I couldn't find a nutcase in my size (during the pandemic) and had to settle for something else for a while. I'm so happy to have one again.
