  • The BEST sippy cup and love that it really doesn't spill/leak
PROS: - easy for 1-year-old to get milk out of - truly doesn't spill, even when baby tries to get milk out by squishing spout on table - easy to clean (easy to hand wash and also cleans great in dishwasher, no hidden parts that could harvest mold undetected) CONS: - spout breaks somewhat easily (other sippy cups we have seem to be a bit more sturdy in this regard) Our 1-year-old never took a bottle, so when it came time to transition him from nursing to drinking from a cup, we had no real idea of what type of cup he would even do well with. He never figured out how to suck from a bottle or pacifier, though we tried a few times throughout the first year, so I was unsure if he could figure out a sippy cup. Reading through lots of reviews, it was a bit overwhelming to try to make an educated guess as to which cups are worth trying (without spending a fortune in the process), so we essentially just started with two very basic styles — plain hard plastic sippy cup and a straw cup. Our baby seemed to do ok drinking from either, though we didn't like the spills that happened, so we kept searching and trying different sippy cups. We purchased our first NUK learner cup (this one is our second) on travel by chance, because we had lost the original sippy we brought. I hadn't come across this cup in my online research, so I'm glad we sort of stumbled upon it, because it is the best cup for our baby — easy for him to use and easy to clean (lots of other sippy cups had hidden/solid color plastic parts that made it impossible to see if everything was really clean). I also love that it really doesn't spill — another similar sippy our baby liked is the Munchkin Latch cup ( Munchkin LATCH Transition Cup, 4 Ounce ), but we found that this one does leak when held upside down and when my baby squishes the spout on the table. Our baby also does well with the simple take and toss sippy cups at daycare, but they are not spill proof. The only issue we have had with this sippy is that the spout can break somewhat easily — I broke it when I tried to put it on a pole in a bottle rack for the dishwasher. It's not a huge deal for us, I just purchased a replacement spout and now know to be more careful with it, but I could see this being an issue if you have a teething baby who chews on the spout. The Nuk cup is overall, the best sippy cup we have tried and now the only one we use. Wholeheartedly recommend! ... show more

  • We have a winner!!!
A long story about our search for the perfect cup. . . We searched and searched for a transitional cup that our exclusively breastfed baby would accept and finally found this worked! I knew we needed to find something with a soft, flexible silicone spout. We had been this route before with our oldest son, who also refused any cup with a hard spout. At that time (7 years ago) Nuby brand made cups where the entire top of the cup and spout was made of soft, pliable, silicone. (those Nuby cup tops were approx. 3" across) Those were great, but it appears Nuby has since redesigned their spouts so the tops are maybe 1". That's really a bummer since I think the reason son # 1 liked those so much was that it was similar to the breast. Those older style Nuby sippy cups worked great for him. Unfortunately, the middle child chewed everything he could get his hands on so most of the old Nuby cups went to 'cup heaven' leaving us in search of suitable cups for baby # 3! This time around our search naturally began with Nuby brand, but baby # 3 wasn't thrilled with the new design. We have 2 old style Nubys still in cup circulation, which are actually favorites, but this NUK cup is one he doesn't refuse so in our book it's a real winner! ... show more

  • Easy and Soft
My 1 year old is transitioning to cups, and is not happy about it. I've been trying to find tippy cups that will make him more receptive to the process, without breaking my bank. This Nuk is great, he likes the spout texture, it's soft and similar enough that he's interested. The flow isn't too fast, and the size is just right. At first I liked the handles, but quickly too them off. they are awkward, and if he picked it up backwards had to turn the entire cup around. He does much better with the cup being able to just hold it, he can turn the spout to his mouth easier and just seems much more comfortable and natural - like he holds his bottle. The spout doen't have all the bells and whistle pieces to make it spill proof, so it's really simple to clean up. ... show more

  • Only sippy my toddler will accept.
Color: Butterfly Size: 10 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Because these are my daughter's only sippy she will take, I'm giving 4 stars. I love that the spout is soft without being a nipple shape which makes for a great transition into sippy cup land. Removing one because the suction is a bit too strong on these. I do have to manually cut a slit along the holes and twist the knife to create a broad slit to allow for more of a toddler like flow. Please understand that if you do this, you will experience leaking. Such is mom life though, can't win them all. Overall, my daughter is happy with these and so am I! ... show more

  • Fantastic First Sippy Cup!!
This is a fantastic first sippy cup! My son just turned 4 months old, is breastfed, and took to this cup instantly. I love how if you turn it upside down, the juice doesn't spill out! It requires him to suck for the liquid to come out. These photos show what it looks like after I shook up the cup with prune juice - nothing escaped, hooray! As a bonus, there are markings to know how many ounces of juice are in the cup (up to 5 ounces!) I didn't realize that until it arrived. That's super helpful to know because our doctor said he's currently limited to 1-2 ounces a day. The design is so cute with the elephants! The silicone handles are very soft, and the shape draws my baby's attention because of the curves and color. It's been very easy to clean. Juice seems to keep great when put back in the fridge for later use. I'm so thankful that my baby's first experience drinking juice wasn't a total mess, and it was a fun experience for everyone! ... show more
