Essential for Energy Production With Folic Acid Vitamin B-12 (cyanocobalamin) is a water soluble vitamin necessary for the maintenance of a healthy nervous system and for the production of energy from fats and proteins. Vitamin B-12 is also essential for the synthesis of DNA during cell division and therefore is especially important for rapidly multiplying cells, such as blood cells. In addition, adequate intake of vitamin B-12, along with folic acid and vitamin B-6, is critical for the conversion of homocysteine to methionine, thereby supporting a healthy cardiovascular system. While B-12 is stored in the liver, dietary sources are of animal origin only (meat and dairy). Therefore, supplementation with B-12 may be especially important for strict vegetarians. Natural color variation may occur in this product.

This NOW Foods Vitamin B-12 Supplement (as cyanocobalamin) is perfect for my vegan lifestyle. I don't get B12 in my food, plus as we age, we all need more B-12, so this is working well for me. The tablets are small, taste delicious, and don't cause any stomach upset. I like that the instructions say you can chew these or let them dissolve under your tongue. So many brands recommend only the dissolving method, but I'm not the dissolving type! These include B-12, of course, but folate as well. These days, it seems like supplement companies are combining a variety of ingredients, and it's smart to be aware in case you're already taking one of the vitamins separately. I have been vegan over 20 years and I have been a b12 dot girl but the price of them have skyrocketed and the amount of b12 included is 50% less than this one so I figured I would give it a try. Taste: Very good, like tropical fruit punch and the size is about three times bigger. It is chewable and easy to dissolve like the ones I am used to. It really is gluten free, I had no side effects. I only been taking one a day for three days now and my restless legs thing has gone away completely after the first dose, thank god. I have been out of b12 for about a month and I always know I need to get more when my legs start wanting to walk and I don't want to. I will buy this one again. I approve and am looking forward to trying two at one time to get my body back to normal.     • Strong focus. Helps tremendously with focus but take it slow the first few days

taking this has increased my focus tremendously, you'll feel it in your head. It takes a few days to work, take it slow for the following reasons! - The first dose might make you super tired / sleepy or even hopeless feeling but after that you will experience a strong level focus after the first or 2nd dose. Also in my experience taking it two days in row gave me bad headaches. Take it slow, take one or two in the first week only. The focus effects last more than 24 hours. I probably take 2 or 3 a week max! i havent tried taking one daily yet. Generally takes 2 to 4 hours to start feeling it kick in, youll feel the effects in your head, kind of a strong mind energy feeling. ... show more

To be honest, I am not sure whether sublingual tablets like these are any more effective than pills, but having one less pill to swallow per day seemed fine by me, so I decided to give this product a try. The tablets themselves are fairly tiny. Smaller than the size of most aspirin. The taste is kind of a tart fruit taste, like cranberries, perhaps. They will dissolve under your tongue eventually, but I prefer to chew them. The dosage (1000mcg) is about the same as in regular B12 supplement pills that I have seen and when comparing the price of these chewables to regular pills they are quite cost effective. This particular size gives you 250 doses for less than $10 a bottle, which is nearly a year's supply. They 1000mcg is WAY more than the amount of B-12 that you should need each day, so I can't think of any good reason to take more than one every 24 hours. That comes out to be a very affordable product. I only started taking B-12 supplements at the request of my Doctor, which makes this (by far) the most inexpensive medication that I take. Unless something better comes along, I will probably keep ordering these for the indefinite future. ... show more
