  • you really should consider this, it’s actually pretty useful!
Size: XL Color: Black Pattern Name: Controller
I needed a fader controller for Logic Pro X. even if you use another DAW, listen up. After looking around and seeing that there were a number of options that do all sorts of things beyond being a fader controller, and looking at dedicated fader controllers that had USB midi capability; i gave the LCXL a good hard look and took the plunge. I can safely say that this will handle the fader and knob operations of my software DAW, as well as many plugins. if you are a Ableton user your set right out of the box. when i get past the learning curve of Logic’s naming convention, and i get the Logic manual pages for what the parameters are named; i will be able to use all the buttons, but out of the box i was able to use the faders and the pan pots no once i did my basic setup in Logic while the faders and the pots leave a bit to be desired, i would still say that for the $$$ i would recommend this to Logic Pro X users, and if you’re a nube and dont even have software to use ( mac, or pc ) this will give you a “lite” version of ableton to record with; do it, ableton is good software also. anyway, this gets a 4.5 in my book. 5’s are for incomparable. hope this helps. i answer questions too. ... show more

  • Love the Launch Control
4.5 stars. I needed more knobs and bought this to use in conjunction with my Livid Ohm64 to control live visuals via Arkaos GrandVJ. For less than $100, I didn't expect Novation's quality to be top-notch, so I was pleasantly surprised to find smooth high quality knobs that don't feel cheap or flimsy. (To compare, I also have an Akai MPK Mini that I never use because every part of it feels like a cheap lightweight plastic toy to me. I was expecting the knobs on the LC to feel like that, but instead the knobs and pads feel quite similar to those on my Ohm, which is great.) The overall build quality feels quite durable. The 16 templates are amazing; essentially I have the capability to control 256 different parameters using 16 knobs. It's perfect for the way I've mapped it to my software. The compact size is great, too. I just placed it over my laptop keyboard and it doesn't take up any more space than my setup did before. The grippy no-slip orange rubber on the bottom of the controller keeps it in place well. The USB cable it came with is sturdy and more than long enough for my needs. I only took off one (half) star because it is not a simple process to edit the LEDs on the pads to do what I want, compared to Livid's Ohm editor software that makes it very easy. Unlike the Ohm, there is no option to edit any LED controls from the Novation editor software; it appears I would have to program it myself using other software, which I am not knowledgeable about whatsoever. It came with a programmers manual but it's like another language to me. I was able to individually map all the controls to GrandVJ very easily, but since I'm not using Ableton or a program that has a template for the Novation, the LEDs only light up momentarily when I am switching templates, and are otherwise off all of the time. So for now I'm basically using it without any LEDs, and those are half the fun of a controller, especially this one since it has four different colors. I don't even need the LEDs to have feedback; I was hoping to have the row of pads be set to one color LED per template, and have them be constantly on simply so I can see the controller better. That's how I have my Ohm set up and it was slightly disappointing to get the LC and not be able to easily configure it like that. ... show more

  • Great controller that replaced my Akai APC Mini
Size: XL Color: Black Pattern Name: Controller
I originally bought an Akai Midimix, but ended up returning it for the Launch Control XL. I have been very happy with the decision. While the Launch Control costs more, it feels like a better quality piece of gear. I read a lot of reviews that said this, and they were right. The knobs and faders on the Akai feel cheap in comparison. The biggest advantage the Launch Control has over the Midimix is that it is very customizable. You can even save presets on the Novation. I use the Launch Control XL with a Launchpad X, and the two devices together are amazingly capable. There are very few features I would want that are not available when using these two devices together. The Novation costs about $50 more than the Akai, but I feel like the price difference is well worth it! ... show more

  • It's major Launch Control
Size: XL Color: Black Pattern Name: Controller
I was a bit sceptical at first I think mainly because it was priced so low I was like this thing is not real equipment , but no it's the real deal . Although I had the Launck Control all conected and fully capable of controling my launch pad pro mk3 . I didn't use it for like a month or so . But tben slowly but surely I started uzing it a little bit more & more . Now I'd feel lost without having the Novation Launch Control part of my studio. It's a genuine experiance to feel the level of control I feel while editing my tracs with the Launch Control in Ableton Thanks you've done it again Novation... ... show more

  • Great for Reaper
Size: XL Color: Black Pattern Name: Controller
I play and record music as a hobby. I consider my skill level as novice getting ready to graduate to average. The point is this... Even though this controller is advertised as "Ableton ready" it was very easy to map controls to Reaper. It is built solid, doesn't feel like a hollow plastic box. I highly recommend this controller to the hobby multi track recorder for great results at a reasonable price. ... show more
